The first time Grace Flemming listened to Olivia Rodrigo's song “hope ur ok,” she knew she wanted to get a tattoo of the song's bridge.

The lyrics — "address the letters to the holes in my butterfly wings" — felt meaningful to the Colorado local and encapsulated her love for the pop singer. Three years later, she finally made an appointment.

In April 2024, the 20-year-old had the words inked on her waist. She came up with the design idea of putting the quote in Rodrigo's handwriting and adding butterflies.

After the hour-long appointment, she returned home and snapped a picture to send to her boyfriend. Flemming tells PEOPLE her boyfriend responded, “Did you take out the fly?"

Initially, she thought he was joking with her. Then she looked in the mirror and saw the word "butterfly" was indeed missing the "fly."

"I was just so shocked!" says Flemming, who also has four other tattoos. "How did I not notice that?"

Looking back on the moment, she says that she laughed, thinking it was hilarious. She recalls then telling her friends and family about the mishap by showing them the tattoo and asking them if they noticed anything about it.

She remarks how, "the laughs and smiles they let out were priceless."

Eventually, she says, she decided to post about it on TikTok, with the video garnering over 800,000 views. While she never expected to go viral, Flemming hopes Rodrigo might see the clip.

"I have been a fan of Olivia since 2015! I LOVED American Girl dolls, and Olivia starred in an American Girl doll movie about the doll named Grace. And ever since then, I’ve followed her in her journey," she says.

"She is such an inspiration to me and I admire her so much. I hope one day she’ll see this tattoo and laugh about it."

In July, Flemming is going to Rodrigo's concert and plans to make some sort of sign to show her the tattoo. After that, she isn't sure what she'll do with the tattoo moving forward.

"It’s so funny, maybe I’ll keep it!" she says. "It’s a fun story to tell. I think I learned to always double-check your tattoo stencil. Or you might end up with some butter wings."
