Amid several casting shakeups on the show and its two other franchises, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted, the actress, 32, confirmed she was exiting the CBS procedural drama after four seasons as Special Agent Tiffany Wallace. “It was time to look towards new creative endeavors," she told Deadline in August. "I’m excited for the future and wish the show all the best." How 'FBI' Said Goodbye to Tiffany Wallace Katherine Renee Kane as Special Agent Tiffany Wallace on "FBI" Season 7 Episode 1. Bennett Raglin/CBS In the season 7 premiere episode titled "Abandoned," fans learned that Tiffany had handed in her resignation and explained that the Hakim case had taken a huge toll on her mental health. When her FBI partner Stuart Scola (John Boyd) insisted she needed to take some "time off" but her departure didn't have to be "permanent," Tiffany replied, "Scola. Have you ever talked me out of anything? Ever? Once? Ever?” “Sorry, but there’s nothing more dangerous than having a partner who didn’t want to be in the field anymore, but stuck around anyway," she explained. The episode concluded with Special Agent Maggie Bell suggesting she and Tiffany get drinks. When Tiffany revealed that she was moving to Georgia for her sister, Maggie asked why she was deciding to leave the FBI. “It wasn’t any one thing," she said. "I just wanted closure. I thought I’d get that after Hakim was gone; I didn’t.” 'FBI' Confirms Kane's Departure Was Her Choice (L) Katherine Renee Kane and John Boyd on 'FBI'. Bennett Raglin/CBS In a conversation with Cinemablend ahead of the season 7 premiere, Boyd opened up about Kane's departure and what it meant for his character, Scola. “Scola is in a little bit of denial. I don’t think he’s really ready for what is about to change in his world," he explained. "He’s thinking maybe Tiff, this is nonsense about her leaving and not wanting to do the job anymore. I don’t think he really understands what’s happening in his world fully, but he ends up losing his partner and saying goodbye to a partner." Adding how the shift will become a "pretty big change for him," he said fans could expect to see him "figuring out who he is" and who is "right" and "wrong" for him as a partner. FBI showrunner Mike Weiss also told the outlet that Kane was not written out of the series and her departure was a choice she made on her own. “There’s always a risk and things happen," he said. "But we really crossed our fingers, because she’s such a great character, such a great actress as well, and the dynamic is so important, we thought, between Scola and Tiff. It would have been a real shame if we couldn’t give them a proper goodbye." Who Replaces Kane? Lisette Olivera. Trae Patton/NBCUniversal via Getty The timing of Kane's exit coincided with the casting of Lisette Olivera, who is best known for her role as Jess on the Disney+ series National Treasure: Edge of History. Deadline reported that Olivera joined as a series regular as Syd, behavioral analysis unit agent, and will take over the role Kane's character Tiffany vacates, as a partner to Scola. Who Else Has Left 'FBI'? Kane isn't the only cast member who has left the franchise. Luke Kleintank, who played Special Agent Scott Forrester on FBI: International, exited the series in May after three seasons, leading to two new faces joining the ranks of the elite FBI squad, the International Fly Team. Chicago Med alum Colin Donnell starred in the final two episodes of FBI: International's third season, PEOPLE exclusively revealed in April. After his two episodes aired, Donnell, 41, thanked the show's "entire cast and crew for welcoming [him] so graciously" on set. "They are a massively hardworking team from top to bottom and I feel lucky to have spent time with them ❤️," he wrote on Instagram.
