Who Is Andrew Garfield's Ex-Girlfriend? All About 'Spiritual Reader' Kate Tomas

Andrew Garfield is back on the market after a brief romance with spiritual reader Kate Tomas.

The Amazing Spider-Man actor was seen holding hands with Tomas while on a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham in March 2024. However, their relationship was short-lived, according to Tomas, who told fans on Instagram in October 2024 that she and Garfield had broken up "months ago."

Though Garfield typically keeps his private life out of the public eye, he has had some notable relationships through the years, including a long-term one with his Spider-Man costar Emma Stone in the 2010s. In late 2021, he started dating model Alyssa Miller but the two broke up by April 2022, a source told PEOPLE.

“I’m not in the public eye to a great degree because I’ve designed it that way for myself,” he told Bustle in 2021 about choosing to keep his love life private.

She is from the U.K.

Tomas grew up in the U.K. and developed her “intuitive abilities” early on, she wrote on her website. She studied classics in college and at 19 years old, she began a spiritual apprenticeship.

She worked in a room above a crystal shop in Glastonbury where she saw clients for tarot readings and advising.

She went to Oxford University

After being dissatisfied with the spiritual and self-help industry, Tomas decided to pursue her doctorate in philosophy at Oxford University. She was accepted as one of two students into the program of over 7,000 applicants and moved from London to Oxford.

She studied at the institution for five years before earning her degree in theology.

She is a “magickal practitioner”

In 2018, Tomas founded a group mentorship program, now called Foundations of Energy Master, for females and non-binary people to teach her practices to others.

“After achieving the highest level of education in my subject possible – both practically and academically – I realised that what gave me the strongest sense of meaning was teaching and sharing the knowledge and experience I had, with people who needed it,” she wrote on her website of why she began.

She takes clients for not only mentorship, but also for readings. Per her website, some of her clients have included Lena Dunham and Megan Mullally.

Tomas also has a large following on TikTok where she posts videos on everything from how to make the right cup of tea to her definition of magic.

“I am trained, initiated and I teach within the Western esoteric tradition of ritual magic,” she explained in one video. “I have training in Solomonic magic and I teach myself a particular version of ritual magic that incorporates my strong understanding of energy work, magical work, but particularly my experience as a neurodiverse, ADHD, autistic, assigned female at birth, disabled, queer person.”

She is an author

Tomas published a book, Chakra Crystals, in 2019 that serves as a guide for those seeking meditation through using the accompanying crystals.

“Within all living beings are powerful energy centers called chakras, which hold the potential for immense restoration,” per the book’s description. “Dr. Kate Tomas, a trained psychic and master magical energy strategist, shows you how to have a more fulfilling life through the power of meditation-based crystal healing using your chakras.”

The book also comes with seven crystals that work with the body’s chakras.

She and Garfield were first linked in March 2024

The Tick, Tick…Boom! actor and Tomas were seen holding hands as they enjoyed a date with Bridgers and Burnham in Malibu, Calif., in March 2024. While Garfield wore a gray sweater with dark blue pants, Tomas opted for a floral dress and black handbag.

She spoke out about "misogynistic" reactions to her relationship with Garfield

In a July 2024 interview with The Sunday Times, Tomas opened up about the "misogynistic nature" of the public's interest in her relationship with Garfield.

“It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it’s always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man,” she said. “I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow.”

She went on to talk about the paparazzi as well, adding, "They will take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst."

She announced her split from Garfield in October 2024

On Instagram in October 2024, a fan asked Tomas if she and Garfield were still dating. She replied, "We broke up months ago."
