Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan’s Relationship Timeline

Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan's relationship is "on and off," according to a source.

The “Feather” singer and Saltburn actor first sparked dating rumors in late 2023. A few months later, the couple enjoyed a date night in Los Angeles, where onlookers told PEOPLE they "shared a little kiss."

Carpenter and Keoghan made their red carpet debut in March 2024 at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty before attending the Met Gala together in May of that same year.

In November 2024, Keoghan appeared on The Louis Theroux Podcast where he was asked explicitly about his relationship status. He managed to avoid confirming his romance with Carpenter, but the actor did say he was "incredibly blessed" to have the pop star in his life.

Prior to dating Keoghan, Carpenter was romantically linked to singers Joshua Bassett and Shawn Mendes. As for the actor, he was in a long-term relationship with Alyson Kierans, with whom he shares a son named Brando. Keoghan called Keirans “an incredible mother” who has “done a great job” with their son during an interview with GQ in January 2024.

September 28, 2023: Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan reportedly meet during Paris Fashion Week 

After Carpenter attended an advance screening of Saltburn in New York City on Sept. 20, 2023, she reportedly met Keoghan a week later at a fashion event. According to E! News, they first crossed paths during Paris Fashion Week when they both attended a Givenchy show on Sept. 28.

During the event, Carpenter was seen rocking a sheer black dress before posing alongside her fellow Disney Channel alum Dove Cameron in the front row. Meanwhile, Keoghan was photographed at the event wearing black slacks and a bomber jacket. 

December 2023: Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan spark dating rumors

In early December 2023, Carpenter and Keoghan sparked romance rumors as they were spotted grabbing dinner together in Los Angeles, according to photos obtained by The Daily Mail. The two kept a low profile as they exited the restaurant and made their way to their car. 

January 2024: Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan step out for a date night

Since their first outing, Carpenter and Keoghan have stepped out for a handful of low-key outings together. In January 2024, they stopped by Luna Luna — an art-centric theme park that recreates the original 1987 art amusement park in Germany — a source confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.

"It definitely seemed like a date,” an onlooker told PEOPLE of the pair’s outing, adding that they were “cute” together and “shared a little kiss.” 

February 4, 2024: Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan make their first public appearance together at a Grammys afterparty 

Carpenter and Keoghan appeared to “soft launch” their relationship at W Magazine, Mark Ronson, and Gucci's Grammys afterparty on Feb. 4. Though they posed separately on the red carpet, they were seen cozying up together inside the event. 

W Magazine later shared a photo of them together on X, in which Keoghan playfully covered his mouth and Carpenter held a drink up in front of her face. 

February 9, 2024: Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan confirm their romance

Following months of dating rumors, Carpenter and Keoghan were seen showing PDA in Los Angeles in mid-February. After grabbing dinner at Nobu on Feb. 9, the two were seen sharing a kiss after leaving Hotel Bel-Air. Just days later, they were all smiles as they enjoyed another dinner date in the City of Angels. 

The outings came just a day before Keoghan skirted questions about his romance with Carpenter while signing autographs. In a video shared by TMZ, the actor stayed mum when asked about his Valentine’s Day plans with the singer, who is set to open for Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour in Australia on Feb. 16. 

March 3, 2024: Barry Keoghan supports Sabrina Carpenter at the Eras Tour

On March 3, Keoghan showed his support for Carpenter as she opened for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Singapore. As Carpenter sang her hit song "Nonsense," the Saltburn actor was seen flashing a sweet smile as he tuned into her performance, per videos shared by fans online.

In a separate video, Keoghan and Carpenter were seen sharing an embrace backstage as the singer walked up to the actor and he twirled her around.

March 10, 2024: Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan make their red carpet debut as a couple

Following the Oscars on March 10, Carpenter and Keoghan made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. During the event, the two were seen posing side-by-side one another before snapping a photo together.

In the picture, they could be seen putting their hands over their mouths as Keoghan sported a friendship bracelet which appeared to be dedicated to the singer. The colorful accessory, that he was snapped wearing at Vanity Fair and Instagram’s Vanities Party, was decorated with a heart charm and included the name “Sabrina” seemingly spelled out with letter beads. 

April 13, 2024: Barry Keoghan supports Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella

Keoghan was a supportive boyfriend as Carpenter performed at Coachella in April. The actor was seen taping the singer on his phone as she performed her set in the desert. At one point, Carpenter was seen waving at Keoghan, causing him to crack a smile.

Later in the night, the two hung out with Swift and Travis Kelce as they watched Ice Spice perform on stage.

May 6, 2024: Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter attend the Met Gala

While they didn't walk the red carpet together, Keoghan and Carpenter did reunite at the top of the Met Gala stairs before entering the event. The "Espresso" singer looked elegant in a blue gown designed by Oscar de la Renta, and the actor leaned into the "Garden of Time" theme with a Mad Hatter-style ensemble by Burberry.

May 11, 2024: Barry Keoghan throws Sabrina Carpenter a 25th birthday party

Carpenter rang in her 25th birthday alongside her close friends as Keoghan threw her a sweet party at DUMBO House in Brooklyn, a source told PEOPLE. As spotted by some eagle-eyed fans on X, her cake featured a photo of Leonardo DiCaprio edited to look like a Snapchat message, with a caption reading, "Nooo don't turn 25 [you're] so sexy aha." The meme is a play off of a recurring joke about the actor's love life — specifically, that he doesn't date women over the age of 25.

According to the source, Carpenter blew out her candles before sharing a sweet kiss with Keoghan.

June 6, 2024: Barry Keoghan appears in Sabrina Carpenter's 'Please Please Please' music video

Carpenter and Keoghan took their relationship to the next level as they costarred in the music video for her new single 'Please Please Please,' which is produced by Jack Antonoff.

The video features Carpenter and Keoghan in a Bonnie and Clyde romance as the actor continuously gets himself into trouble with the law. She even made a cheeky reference to his profession in the beginning lyrics, singing, "I heard that you're an actor, so act like a stand-up guy."

August 6, 2024: Sabrina Carpenter says Barry Keoghan is "one of the best actors of this generation"

Carpenter doesn't want to "sound biased," but she thinks her boyfriend is pretty talented. While talking to Variety, she described Keoghan as "one of the best actors of this generation."

August 18, 2024: Source says Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have an “on and off" relationship

After DeuxMoi reported their split, the Dunkirk actor seemingly shut down breakup rumors when he liked one of the "Espresso" singer's sultry Instagram photos.

A source later told PEOPLE that Keoghan and Carpenter's relationship is "on and off."

October 20, 2024: Barry Keoghan attends Sabrina Carpenter's concert in Virginia

Keoghan was in the audience at Carpenter's Short n' Sweet Tour stop in Virginia. While performing her song "Juno," she gave the actor a cute shout-out by changing the lyrics from "I hear you knockin', baby, come on up," to "I hear you knockin', Barry, come on up," according to Entertainment Tonight.

November 4, 2024: Barry Keoghan calls Sabrina Carpenter a "strong, independent lady"

During an interview on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Keoghan gushed about Carpenter.

"I'm incredibly blessed," he said. "[She's] such a strong, independent lady who's massively talented. Pretty special."
