Country singer Brantley Gilbert knew he was going to marry his future wife, Amber Cochran Gilbert, when they first dated in high school.

As his star was rising, the “How To Talk To Girls” singer and Amber reconnected, got engaged in October 2014 and tied the knot in June 2015.

Amber is an amazing person and has inspired a lot of my songs from ‘More Than Miles’ to ‘You Don’t Know Her Like I Do’ for the last 10 years,” the singer previously told PEOPLE. “I’m a blessed man to have her back in my life."

The couple have since welcomed three children: son Barrett Hardy-Clay in 2017, daughter Braylen Hendrix in 2019 and son Abram Howell in October 2024.

Amber made headlines after unexpectedly giving birth to Abram in Brantley's tour bus. The country star was mid-show in Tupelo, Miss., when he left the stage for an emergency: his wife was in labor.

"I can't say this was on my bingo card," Brantley joked during an appearance on Fox & Friends. "It was kind of crazy."

Although she has since stopped teaching in a traditional school, Amber has shared about her connection to the job.

"I loved being an educator. I miss the classroom, the students and the teaching profession as a whole," she wrote on her website. "Having my own children, I understand the responsibility that teachers have in a much different way. Being on the other side of the parent-teacher relationship I can fully appreciate what a truly amazing profession it is."

In 2023, Amber returned to teaching via Arc Learning Academy, a homeschool group she founded in Jefferson, Ga.

The couple knew each other from their hometown in Georgia and had dated in high school. More than 10 years after their first connection, Brantley and Amber got engaged.

“It was one of those things that was on and off for few years – mostly on – and then she was the one that got away for about five years,” Brantley shared during an appearance on The Bobby Bones Show in 2014. “It came back around and I’ve never been happier. This little one, she’s the one, and I’m a pretty stoked dude. I’m pretty excited to say the least.”

Their second son, Abram Howell, arrived early on Oct. 11, 2024. Brantley was mid-show in Tupelo, Miss., when Amber went into labor on his tour bus. The country star was pulled off stage for an undisclosed "emergency" and returned shortly after Abram's birth to resume the show and tell the audience, "We got a baby."

Just days later, Amber and Brantley appeared on Fox & Friends to share more about Abram's arrival.

"We actually had a midwife out with us, so we were prepared if it were to happen. But [Amber] had a great night before, so we thought we had a week or so left," the dad of three said. "And we didn't."

"9 years drink-free today, and couldn't have done it without my family, my brothers, my road family and the #bgnation ... If y'all pop a top today, drink one for ya boy....,” he wrote in the caption.

Brantley told PEOPLE in 2018 that after three years of sobriety and a short engagement with fellow country star Jana Kramer, he reunited with Amber. “There wasn’t a period of time that went by that I didn’t think of her. If I wrote a love song, there’s a piece of her in it somewhere, even when we weren’t together,” he said. “God blessed me more than I could have ever known to ask to be blessed.”

In December 2020, the "What Happens in a Small Town" singer shared with PEOPLE that he had renovated his garage into a Georgia Bulldogs-themed man cave called “The Dawg House." Amber let him have full creative control of the interior decor while she chooses what to put in their home.

"It's all rustic and reclaimed wood, modern farmhouse or whatever," Brantley shared of their main property. "And I like some of that stuff, but she has the house down there that she's turned into Southern Living magazine, and up here, it's biker, hot rod racing. It's a man cave slash showroom slash anything you can think of."

He also jokingly added that Amber refers to his interior decorating taste as "terrible", and that the space allows him to be “out of my wife's hair."
