The White House has been America’s trick-or-treat destination for decades. Each year, kids all around the neighborhood stop by for a chance to meet the president and first lady, collecting candy and fun surprises along the way.

For Halloween 2023, 46th President of the United States Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden hosted some 8,000 guests at the Executive Mansion, passing out confections and books for the spooky festivities.

To see all the ways All Hallows’ Eve has been celebrated at the White House, let’s look back at some memorable images from Halloween in Washington, D.C. — from former President John F. Kennedy’s administration to the Bidens' celebrations.
