Today‘s Savannah Guthrie was treated to the mother of all send offs Monday morning when Matt Lauer, Al Roker and the rest of the NBC News team gathered on a pastel-colored set to bid a maternity-leave goodbye to the soon-to-be mom. The show unspooled a video montage of Guthrie’s last nine months, including playful shots of her co-workers touching her growing belly, Guthrie’s embarrassing bouts with “pregnancy brain” and celebrities like Kate Hudson guessing the sex of the baby. (The actress thinks it will be a girl). “It has been so much fun,” Guthrie said to her co-workers. “It’s been so surreal to go through this on TV.” “Looking at all the eating you’ve done, you may not actually be pregnant,” quipped Lauer. (Let’s hope Guthrie punched him off camera for that!) To top off the myriad of gifts she’s no doubt received over the summer, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb then wheeled in a baby buggy full of goodies, including a bottle of wine “for when you stop breastfeeding.” Guthrie was then treated to surprise calls from her mom Nancy, who says she has her bags packed and is ready to join her daughter in the big city, and her husband Michael Feldman, who said, “Her maternity leave is my paternity gain.” That was followed by a toast from Today team, who then drank from sippy cups. “My heart is full,” Guthrie said. “I will miss you guys.” <p style="font-size:11px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #999; margin-top: 5px; background: transparent; text-align: center; width: 420px; Want more stories like this?
