Team Armstead is expanding!

Jacksonville Jaguars' Arik Armstead and his wife Mindy are expecting their third baby together, following the birth of their two daughters Ayla, 2, and Amiri, 3, the couple exclusively shares with PEOPLE.

Mindy, who is 18 weeks pregnant and due at the beginning of April, raves about her excitement for her little one's arrival and opens up alongside her NFL husband about their pregnancy journey to date.

"I feel like I'm 36 weeks. I guess that happens with your third baby," Mindy says, though she notes that she's "feeling pretty good" at this stage. "I'm not noticing the symptoms quite so much... but I'm tired, that's about it."

Arik adds, "I feel very excited. I definitely feel like our family wasn't complete. I just feel really blessed to be pregnant again and add to our family."

The couple, who wed in June 2020, welcomed Amiri in February 2021 and Ayla in June 2022, two daughters that have made Arik a proud "girl dad" since they were born. Now, the expecting parents are ready to welcome a boy to their brood.

"I'm excited to have a boy," the NFL star tells PEOPLE, though he adds he's expecting it to be "a little bit of a learning curve" in comparison to his familiarity with parenting girls. "It's just going to be a little bit of a different experience, but I'm excited about it."

While there's a lot of uncertainty with parenting a baby boy, Arik is sure of one thing: "I'm definitely expecting him to be a mama's boy," he says with confidence. Mindy "absolutely" agrees with that statement.

"I've already told him, I was like, 'Look, this is my chance now'," she jokes. "He spoiled our daughters to no end... does their nails, give them lip glosses," she explains. "When I have a son, you're not taking him out, injuring him and do all this crazy stuff unless he wants it."

Mindy continues, "If he wants to be an artist, a musician, full support... I don't care if he's 6'8'' unless he really wants to do it."

Naturally, one would assume as a parent who's played 10 seasons in the NFL — currently in his first with the Jaguars and nine with the San Francisco 49ers, where he nearly clinched the Super Bowl LVIII victory in overtime — that he'd want his son to follow in his football footsteps, but Arik is open.

"I feel like my life and the family and that me and Mindy created and try to create for our family is just to have opportunities for them to live out their dreams or whatever they're interested in," he says, noting that he's "not necessarily pushing" for his son to play football in the future.

While Arik can't help but acknowledge that "sometimes the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," he says "if he's not into sports, then that's okay too," explaining, "I just want to create opportunities for them to achieve and do whatever they want to do in life."

Needless to say, the soon-to-be parents of three have a bit of time to consider the football front for their little boy. In the meantime, they're tossing around another important element ahead of their son's birth: baby names.

"So we stuck with the A's, so it's going to be an A name for sure," Arik says of his son's first initial, though notes that they "haven't dug too deep" just yet. "We're kind of combing through and looking at some different options, trying to see what sticks."

Meanwhile, Mindy is a self-described "indecisive individual" when it comes to selecting baby names. "The pressure is too high for me," she jokes, noting that she's leaving it up to her husband to take the lead. "I'm waiting for Arik to chime in because he's named both of our daughters," she says.

Their 2 and 3-year-old daughters are more than ready for the arrival of their little brother, too. In fact, they've already started big-sister training.

"They have little babies of their own," Arik says of their toy dolls. "They put the baby to sleep and rock the baby and give the baby a bottle and all that, so I think that's helped them kind of make the connection."

Mindy adds, "They're so excited... I think maybe they're going to love him more than Arik and I. They're going to want to just carry him everywhere and do everything. They're very, very excited."

The expecting parents are undoubtedly overjoyed about their growing family, especially as two individuals who come from respectively large households themselves. "I'm one of five, he's one of four. I love my sisters and I love being from a big family," says Mindy.

While that fact surely influenced their decision to have a third child, the excited mom can't help but look ahead. "I knew we needed another," she says of wanting baby No. 3. "But ask me at the end of this pregnancy, whether this is our last one or not."

She concludes: "Right now I feel okay, but I know once I get bigger I might not... my answers might change."
