The 18-year-old actress stars in CBS’s Fam, her first-ever series regular role after getting her start in shows like Nashville and Netflix’s Love. And when it comes to the high-stakes schedule of weekly live tapings, she’s welcoming the challenge of staying on her toes. “It’s surprisingly more stressful than any single-cam I’ve ever done,” she tells PEOPLE. “I have so much fun on it, but it is stressful, acting wise. The script is constantly changing and it’s kind of nerve-wracking to do it in front of 400 people when you’re not sure if that paragraph is gonna be the same five minutes later. But although they share a rebellious streak (Adlon briefly ran away from home at 15 when actress mom Pamela Adlon wouldn’t let her join the business), Adlon says they don’t have much in common otherwise. “She pulls stunts that I just wouldn’t, she’s kind of an a—–,” Adlon says, laughing. “She’s pretty mean in general. Even so, Adlon says she enjoys being the jerk on set and has a blast with the rest of the cast while they shoot. “It’s great, we have a lot of fun on set,” she says. “I’d say me and [Brian Stokes Mitchell, who plays her dad Walt] have the most fun,” Adlon says. “We like to challenge each other, not acting wise. We play the license plate game a lot, like if you see an out of state license plate you can punch the other person if you see it first. We punch each other the time.” Fam airs on CBS Thursday nights at 9:30 p.m. ET.
