People Editorial Guidelines Published on March 10, 2017 09:00AM EST 01 of 16 Pedro Pascal Pedro Pascal/Instagram The Last of Us star made an all too brief appearance in Buffy's season 4 opener, an episode titled "The Freshman." Pascal's character, Edward, meets the vampire slayer herself on their first day of college, and they bond over their mutual new student nerves. However their plans to reconnect are interrupted when Edward meets a pack of vampires. They turn him into one as well, and Buffy has no choice but to end their friendship with a stake. Over two decades later, Sarah Michelle Gellar recalled her time on screen with Pascal. "When #Mother met #Father," she captioned a throwback Instagram of the two in character on set. 02 of 16 Rachel Bilson 20th Century Fox Bilson guest starred as potential Slayer Colleen in the season 7 episode "Dirty Girls," a title which The O.C. alum's role helps to explain. She and another maybe-Slayer appear in a snoozing Xander's quickly interrupted sexy dream. 03 of 16 Alexandra Breckenridge 20th Century Fox The actress plays Sunnydale High student Kit Holburn, who befriends Buffy's younger sister, Dawn, when they both start seeing dead people around campus. When Breckenridge's character is attacked by Manifest spirits alongside Dawn, they're luckily saved by the slaying big sister. 04 of 16 Phill Lewis 20th Century Fox Before he played The Suite Life of Zack and Cody's no-nonsense hotel manager, Mr. Moesby, Lewis was Sunnydale High's guidance counselor, Mr. Platt. Buffy takes a liking to the advisor after paying him a few visits, but it's not long before Mr. Platt is brutally mauled and murdered by another student, Pete Clarner (John Patrick White). 05 of 16 K. Todd Freeman 20th Century Fox In more recent years, K. Todd Freeman has appeared on Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Nathan Fielder's HBO series The Rehearsal. First, however, he played a blood sucker by the name of Trick on season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 06 of 16 Clea DuVall 20th Century Fox If you don't remember Sunnydale High student Marcie Ross (pictured second from left), you're not alone. DuVall's character was so dismissed, forgotten and overlooked by her peers that she literally turned invisible. Completely unseen by others, the girl spent months haunting the school, scaring and bullying those who mistreated her. Buffy eventually ends her ghostly reign of terror using her Slayer powers. 07 of 16 Amy Adams Source: wweDivaBabe/YouTube The Oscar-nominated actress guest-starred in the season 5 episode "Family," where she plays Tara's nasty cousin Beth. 08 of 16 Kal Penn Source: Buffy Wikia The Harold and Kumar star plays a bro-y UC Sunnydale student in the season 4 episode "Beer Bad," in which the beer he and Buffy are drinking has been put under a spell by a bitter bar owner. 09 of 16 Ben Affleck Source: Rob Tornoe/Twitter While he didn't appear in the series, he did give a glorious performance as a teen basketball player in the 1992 classic, yet misunderstood film, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So we're counting it. 10 of 16 Wentworth Miller 20th Century Fox Film Corp./Everett In season 2, the Prison Break actor played Gage Petronzi, a member of the Sunnydale High swim team. To improve his performance, his coach gives him fish steroids and he ends up turning into a gill monster. Typical high school stuff. 11 of 16 Shane West Source: Buffy Wikia Another high school swimmer with an unfortunate storyline! The actor played Sean Dwyer in the season 2 episode "Go Fish," and he was also transformed into a gill monster. 12 of 16 Nathan Fillion Source: TVCastleAlways/YouTube Fillion played Caleb, a super creepy and sadistic priest with a multi-episode character arc. (Fun fact: He auditioned for the role of Angel.) 13 of 16 John Ritter Saeed Adjani / TM and Copyright © 20th Century Fox Film Corp/Everett The late actor plays Ted, Buffy's mom's creepy new boyfriend, in season 2. 14 of 16 Hillary Swank 20th Century Fox Film Corp./Everett Another Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie!) performance we couldn't not include: Swank plays cool teen Kimberly Hannah. 15 of 16 Ashanti Source: Buffy Wikia In the season 7 episode "First Date," the R&B singer plays Lissa, a demon who tries to seduce Xander. 16 of 16 Amber Tamblyn Source: Buffy Wikia The actress plays Janice Penshaw, the best friend of Buffy's sister.
