Scott Speedman Jokes About 'Hilarious' Home Birth Experience with Fiancée Lindsay Rae Hofmann: 'We Have Tubs'

Scott Speedman is opening up about his experience welcoming his baby son into the world — and why he found the home birth experience "hilarious."

Appearing on the Thursday, Nov. 7, episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, to discuss his new Peacock series Teacup, the Grey's Anatomy alum, 49, opened up about his fiancée Lindsay Rae Hofmann's home birth with their son earlier this fall.

"The home birth is hilarious. Because you have to rent this… like, I don’t know if you guys did this, but we rented this plastic tub," Speedman shared.

"At three in the morning, you’re like four hours in. I was in the tub with her, just holding her, while like two people we barely know are watching over the tub," he joked. "You barely know them. And they’re in your house and you’re just, you know, tired.”

“And is it not, like, do you not have a tub yourself?” host Seth Meyers asked.

“No we have tubs in the house,” Speedman responded with a laugh.

The two went on to riff about the tubs, with Meyers asking what's so special about the tub they bring in for home births.

“It was bigger and inflatable. While she was in the first throes of labor, I was like pumping up…” Speedman responded, laughing and mimicking inflating a pool. 

“Again, everything seems to be telling me you should’ve used your tub," Meyers joked

“Yeah, we should’ve just used our tub. We have a great tub downstairs," the actor said.

In September, Speedman's fiancée announced that the couple had welcomed a new addition to their family.

Sharing a post on Instagram, Hofmann shared that she gave birth to the couple's second baby, a boy named Indy, in September. Indy joined big sister Pfeiffer Lucia, 4.

"Our beautiful boy is here," she captioned the post, which was accompanied by black-and-white family snaps.

"Our hearts have burst right open and we’ve fallen madly in love. You came fast and furious the day after your daddy’s birthday and on your official due date — September 2nd at 7:12 am at a surprising 8lbs. We love you Indy bug, it was always you 🐞," Hofmann continued.
