Young, a native of Asheville, North Carolina, has called upon her former castmates to come together for a live reunion on Sunday, Nov. 17, to raise funds for United Way of North Carolina in an effort to help the western portion of the state after the devastation from Hurricane Helene. The actress, who played the first lady turned commander-in-chief Mellie Grant, will do a virtual table read of a fan-favorite episode, along with Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope), Tony Goldwyn (Fitzgerald Grant), Guillermo Diaz (Huck), Scott Foley (Jake Ballard), Katie Lowes (Quinn Perkins) and Joshua Malina (David Rosen), Joe Morton (Rowan/Eli Pope), George Newbern (Charlie), Jeff Perry (Cyrus Beene), Cornelius Smith, Jr. (Marcus Walker) and Darby Stanchfield (Abby Whelan). The ABC political thriller's creator, Shonda Rhimes, will also be in attendance, opening the reading with her producing partner, Betsy Beers, who will be the narrator. "I really missed your face, I miss everybody's face. it's been so long since we've had the whole Scandal fam together," Young says. "Remember how we used to look forward to table reads? We'd find out everything that Shonda and the writers had in store for us next. It was so crazy!" Goldwyn agrees, telling his former costar, "That was the best! Lowes and Foley then appear on screen as she agrees the idea "sounds great" and he asks, "Which episode should we do?" Díaz also pops into the Zoom call, teasing that Young shouldn't be surprised that they're there as Lowes jokes, "We have eyes on you!" "I’m so grateful that my whole Scandal family said yes to being part of this very special event. It is my heart's hope that we can make a difference for WNC on its road to recovery.
