Ryan Reynolds Playfully Reacts to Jamie Lee Curtis' Apology to Marvel

Ryan Reynolds has entered the chat.

On Thursday, Aug. 1, the Deadpool star sweetly poked fun at Jamie Lee Curtis' apology to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after she said that the franchise was in its "bad phase."

Reynolds, 47, posted on X (formerly Twitter), quoting the Freaky Friday star's apology: “Wait, is everyone expected to apologize for slamming Marvel post-Endgame?” 

Curtis, 65, and her Borderlands costars were interviewed during San Diego Comic-Con in July where she told MTV that Marvel was in its "bad" phase.

They were being quizzed about the MCU in a video shared on July 30 featuring a Q&A montage. Host Joshua Horowitz asked: "What phase is Marvel in right now?" looking for a numbered answer about the evolving franchise.

The Oscar-winning actress responded "bad," appearing to shock her costars and Horowitz.

On Aug. 1, Curtis posted an apology online beneath a video from SDCC, where her costar Kevin Hart praised her as a leader on the set of Borderlands.

"If I'm a leader, then a leader shouldn't talk s--- about other collaborative art form creators," she wrote. "My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better."

Adding: "I've reached out to [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige and will no longer play in that mud slinging sandbox of competition nor will I engage in the toilet paper promotion or game play that is designed for clicks not content."

She also posted on X, echoing her Instagram post's caption.

Curtis previously told PEOPLE in July 2022 that she would "of course" star in a Marvel movie, following a friendly feud between the latest Doctor Strange movie and her Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once.

"Honestly, I can't imagine that they will ever come calling because I kicked up some dust," she said at the time regarding her comments.

"But I'm a collaborating artist. I work with a lot of people on a lot of different things, and if the role was interesting and if I could bring what I do to it, of course I would [work with Marvel]. What am I going to do, say no? Of course!"

"But," she continued, "I would find it hard to imagine that Marvel's going to figure out something to do with a 64-year-old woman."
