People Editorial Guidelines Updated on March 18, 2024 02:54PM EDT Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri are causing a stir with their latest photo together! The actors set dating rumors ablaze after they were seen getting close in a new joint selfie posted on Instagram on Sunday to mark St. Patrick’s Day. In the cute snap, which was shared on Edebiri’s Instagram Story, she and Mescal, both 28, laughed as they sat together on a stairwell. Edebiri had her arms wrapped around Mescal’s shoulder as he took the photo. “Happy St Paddy’s 🍀,” Edebiri wrote in the caption. In additional snaps taken on the same stairwell, Mescal and Edebiri posed with director Oliver Hermanus and Slave Play playwright Jeremy O. Harris. Hermanus is directing Mescal in the film The History of Sound, which is currently in production. Mescal and Edebiri have sparked dating rumors after a new photo posted on Instagram Sunday. Ayo Edebiri/Instagram The Bear's Ayo Edebiri Completes Her Awards Season Streak at SAG Awards: 'This Is Insane!' The Bear star most likely posted the photo in joking reference to her claimed Irish roots shared with Mescal, which has become a running joke on social media. (She previously raved about her time living in Ireland to prepare for a role in The Banshees of Inisherin, only she wasn’t actually in the Oscar-nominated film, nor did she live in Ireland.) Some fans though are now convinced Edebiri and Mescal might have possibly “soft launched” a new romance with their latest cozy snap. (Edebiri was last linked to actor and comedian Colin Burgess in 2022.) Or perhaps the pair are testing their chemistry out working on a new project together? Mescal previously said in an interview last November that he’d be interested in working with Edebiri on a romance-comedy. Fans quickly picked up on the repost and shared their reactions to Edebiri and Mescal possibly starring in a romcom together on social media.
