Jessica Simpson Celebrates Her Baby Shower

Break out the blue confetti!

Jessica Simpson‘s friends and family – including sister Ashlee Simpson, close pal Jessica Alba (below) and hairstylist Ken Paves – fêted the Fashion Star mentor, 32, with a country bash to celebrate the impending arrival of her son.

On Sunday afternoon at an L.A. hotel, Simpson’s nearest and dearest (including her 11-month-old daughter Maxwell), gathered at a Tom Sawyer-themed affair, complete with vintage tables, tin pitchers, and a wooden boat alongside the nearby pond.

Wearing a bright blue Diane von Furstenberg dress and nude Brian Atwood heels, Simpson entered the party with her daughter on her hip, patting her pregnant belly and beaming as she greeted guests.

“She’s an amazing mother,” Mindy Weiss tells PEOPLE. “Very calm. And she looks great too!”

The celebrity event planner coordinated the “homey” event along with help from Simpson’s mom, Tina. “They’re best friends,” says Weiss. “Jessica trusted her mom to make the decisions!”

Guests dined on a variety of comfort foods, including pigs in a blanket, mini sliders and grilled cheese from a custom station. One special request from the expectant mama? Thousand Island dressing at the salad bar. “She’s craving it!” says Weiss.
