Gloria Estefan is saying goodbye to one of her biggest fans.

The “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You” singer shared an emotional post on Instagram Tuesday night announcing that her mother, Gloria Fajardo, passed away. She was 88, according to E! News.

Estefan said that Fajardo passed peacefully and was surrounded by family and “her most trusted friends,” two of whom were pictured in the post.

“I know it was exactly the way she would have wanted her departure from this earth to be, surrounded by love and the true representations of everyone that was special to her in life,” Estefan, 59, wrote.

The singer revealed that Fajardo’s time of death held a special meaning.

“I know she chose the very moment, 8:19, because her beloved mother had died on 8/19 thirty-two years ago and she wanted to make sure that we got the message that she was with our beloved grandmother, Abuela Consuelo and my loving father, Jose Manuel,” she said.

“I will miss her every moment of every day,” she added. “And I thank her for being the incredible mother, woman and role model that she was to so many people.”

The star also canceled a concert scheduled for July 15 at Sonoma State University in California due to her mother’s illness.

Fajardo had a fan base of her own thanks to videos with her granddaughter Emily in which she rapped, earning her the nickname “Rapuela.”
