Music's most iconic night just got a lot more exciting with its first round of performers.

On Monday, Aug. 12, the MTV Video Music Awards announced that Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla and Rauw Alejandro will perform live during the Sept. 11 show at New York's UBS Arena.

All except Cabello will be making their main stage debuts next month, as the four-time Grammy-nominee returns to the VMAs for a third time for a performance from her latest studio album, C,XOXO. Fresh off of her record-breaking turnouts at Lollapalooza and Governor’s Ball earlier this summer, breakout star Roan will also perform for her first-ever award show stage appearance at the VMAs.

The five 2024 VMAs performers only scratch the surface of the list of artists taking the stage, which MTV plans to reveal in the coming weeks. Each of the announced performers is nominated at this year's VMAs, and Carpenter leads the pack with six nods — including artist of the year and song of the year for her viral hit "Espresso."

Roan is the only one among the bunch who earned a best new artist nomination, plus an MTV Push performance of the year nod along with GloRilla. Meanwhile, Alejandro is nominated for best Latin and Cabello is up for best pop.

This year's VMAs also has 29 first-time nominees, including Carpenter, Roan, Alejandro, Tyla, Jelly Roll, Sexxy Red, Victoria Monét and many more.

In addition to performers, MTV also announced on Monday that the 2024 VMAs will move from its original date of Sept. 10 to Sept. 11, which will recognize the 23rd anniversary of 9/11. The network notes that it will support the nonprofit 9/11 Day (aka September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance) and Tuesday’s Children, which acknowledges the families of 9/11.

As previously announced, Taylor Swift is the most-nominated artist at the 2024 VMAs, coming out with 10 total nods, with her "Fortnight" collaborator Post Malone close behind with nine. Other big names up for Moon People this year include Ariana Grande, Eminem, Megan Thee Stallion, SZA and Olivia Rodrigo.

Fans can vote for their favorite categories at vote.mtv.com now through Friday, Aug. 30.

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards airs live on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
