The annual awards show celebrating fans' favorite songs and music videos of the year aired live on Sept. 11 via MTV from the UBS Arena in New York — where many artists attended in hopes of winning their categories. Taylor Swift led this year's nominations with 12, followed by Post Malone with 11 and Eminem with eight. Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion and Sabrina Carpenter each received seven nods. Katy Perry 39, received this year's video vanguard award and treated viewers to a medley of her biggest hits — plus, presumably, material from her upcoming 143 album. Furthermore, Teddy Swims and Jessie Murph will deliver performances on the show's Extended Play stage, while Le Sserafim is set to take the stage during the pre-show.
