Katy Perry Bares Her Glossy Abs and QR Code Tramp Stamp with Wet Look at 2024 MTV VMAs

It’s Katy Perry’s world — we’re just living in it.

The “Woman’s World” singer, 39, pulled out all the stops for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

Perry arrived at the red carpet at New York's UBS Arena on Sept. 11 in an daring ensemble, continuing her edgy, skin-baring style streak.

She flashed her abs (which were quite literally glistening in the spotlight) in a one-shoulder bra top and floor-length skirt (both by Who Decides War) that had the look of being draped in wet paper mâché and yarn, for a deconstructed vibe.

The skirt alone deserves a moment as it was unpinned in the back to show the temporary QR code tattoo stamped on Perry's back, linking to a pre-order website for Perry’s upcoming studio album, 143, out September 20. Meanwhile on her arm was a black metal arm cuff that really added to the futuristic aesthetic.

The overall "wet" vibe (read super glossy and super chic) of it all was made complete with Perry's black hair styled in shiny gelled curls.

Orlando Bloom was there to accompany his fiancée and went with a monochromatic matte suit for the night.

Perry is not only performing at the show, but will also take the stage to accept the Video Vanguard Award as this year's honoree.

“Katy is a musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon,” said Bruce Gillmer, Paramount's president of music, music talent, programming and events and Paramount+'s chief content officer for music, in a press release about the prestigious honor.

“With her game changing creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and taken over the world’s biggest stages,” Gillmer continued. “Katy’s prowess will be on full display LIVE on the VMAs with a can’t-miss, career-encompassing performance celebrating her biggest moments and chart-topping hits.”

Perry took home her very first VMAs in 2011, earning two moon people — best visual effects and best collaboration — for “E.T” featuring Kanye West,” as well as the coveted video of the year award for “Firework.”

Since that first appearance at the ceremony, the pop superstar — who is preparing to drop her sixth studio album, 143, on Sept. 20 — has returned to the VMAs stage for iconic performances, acceptance speeches and memorable looks.

The 2024 MTV VMAs air on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/ PT live from the UBS Arena in New York.
