While Rothman and Wiig were confirmed to be engaged in August 2019 and revealed they had welcomed twins via surrogate in January 2020, their marital status remained unknown until Wiig referred to Rothman as her "husband" in a conversation about living with their infant twins while appearing on The Howard Stern Show in February 2021. "Besides the fact that we are where we are — it's hard to not feel so much of the s--- and struggle that's going on — in my home, I'm very lucky about having these two babies and my husband. It's changed my life," Wiig said. So who is Kristen Wiig's husband? Here's everything to know about Avi Rothman and his relationship with the Bridesmaids actress. He's a triple threat Rothman is a writer, actor and producer who trained at the Groundlings theater in Los Angeles, where Wiig also studied. He has several acting, writing and producing credits in films, shorts and TV series. Rothman also wrote the short film Bunion, which premiered at the WILDsound Film Festival in 2015. "I'd really like to finish writing and shoot a feature," he told the WILDsound Festival Review at the Bunion premiere in May 2015. "[It] should have been completed a year ago." Since the short film's release, Rothman has concentrated on acting in independent films like Silver Lake and The Blackout as well as many shorts. He has appeared in two films with Wiig Avi Rothman and Kristen Wiig. FameFlynet/AKM-GSI Rothman has had small parts in two movies starring Wiig. First, in Wonder Woman 1984, Rothman portrays an aide at the oil company Black Gold. In Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, which was also co-written by Wiig, he has a slightly bigger role as Activities Guy Jeff. He loves yoga In 2006, Rothman played the titular character in the YouTube video "Ogden the Inappropriate Yoga Guy." He continued to play Ogden in several other videos and shared that the inspiration for the character came from his own experiences as an avid yogi. "My sister got me into yoga about seven years ago. For a while I became addicted and was in class five times a week," Rothman said in a 2010 interview with The Laugh Button. "I'm usually the quiet one in class, generally keeping to myself." He added, "I love observing people. At times I thought there were so many characters in my yoga class. I would see a lot of guys blatantly hitting on and trying to pick up women, and vice versa." He and Wiig have two children In January 2020, Rothman and Wiig welcomed twins via surrogate though they did not share the news until later that June. In August 2020, Wiig spoke to InStyle about the challenges of undergoing in vitro fertilization with Rothman. "We've been together for about five years, and three of them were spent in an [in vitro fertilization] haze," she said. "Emotionally, spiritually and medically, it was probably the most difficult time in my life. I wasn't myself." After Wiig was unable to conceive via IVF, the couple decided to go with surrogacy. "I finally realized that I just needed help," said Wiig. "And, thank God, we found the most amazing surrogate." In a March 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wiig talked about their journey to surrogacy again. "It's part of my story and part of how I got my amazing family," she said. The names of Rothman and Wiig's children were not revealed at their birth, but Wiig appeared to have acknowledged them in the credits of her 2021 film Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar. In the "special thanks" acknowledgments, one line reads: "Avi, Luna & Shiloh." He became a viral video star Besides "Inappropriate Yoga Guy," Rothman has written and starred in several other web series, including "The Seth & Avi Show" and "Gay Roommates." He got his start in web comedy when a friend studying online marketing in business school challenged Rothman and some pals to create a viral video. "We basically came up with this idea of making a pseudo commercial for American Apparel where all of us were naked, making breakfast," he told The Laugh Button. "I think it got over 150,000 hits in two days. ... I think it would have gotten more except for the fact that it was flagged for 'adult content.' " Rothman added, "I think that video helped me realize how accessible an audience could be, if it in fact went viral." He's a major film junkie Avi Rothman. Frederick M. These are just a few," he told the WILDsound Festival Review. Close
