The Bohemian Rhapsody star bounced back from a tumble off the Oscars stage and headed to the Governor’s Ball, where he immediately got in on the festivities by spraying his fellow partygoers with a large bottle of champagne. He was joined at the fete by fellow winners like Lady Gaga and Olivia Colman, who were also on hand to get their trophies engraved. Malek, 37, was fresh off a Best Actor win at the 91st annual Academy Awards Sunday when he fell from the stage into the audience area just after the broadcast wrapped. Video showed the star looking surprised as he was helped to his feet by the people around him. The actor was first sat in a chair in the front row as he was treated by paramedics, though he was eventually moved into a more private area backstage. Malek won his prize for playing the late Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. He celebrated his win by passionately kissing girlfriend and costar Lucy Boynton before taking the stage. That kid was struggling with his identity, trying to figure himself out and I think to anyone struggling with theirs and trying to discover, their voice, listen, we made a film about a gay man, an immigrant who lived his life just unapologetically himself.”Malek continued, “[It’s] proof that we’re longing for stories like this. I am the son of immigrants from Egypt, I’m a first-generation American. And part of my story is being written right now, and I could not be more grateful.” The star has been making the awards show rounds this season, and also picked up a best actor win at the Golden Globes, the BAFTA Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The 91st Academy Awards were broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 24 on ABC.
