Newly minted Sexiest Man Alive Chris Evans used his massive celebrity platform to spread political awareness when he launched a bipartisan website called A Starting Point. The online operation serves to inform and educate readers by answering common questions and sharing ideas from politicians and elected officials. It features none of Evans' own political views.

Civic issues have been a major part of Evans' life since childhood: As a kid, his family frequently discussed the subject, and Evans grew up participating in campaigns for his uncle Michael Capuano, who served 10 years in Congress.

"There's a lot of things you can do as an actor with your name," Evans told PEOPLE about his motivations for launching A Starting Point in 2020. "I could be making booze — I don't discourage anyone from doing that, I love booze — but there's no denying that I played a certain character, and it just so happens to align with part of my nature in terms of being someone who is politically involved and who cares about the wellbeing of people in this country."

His message as part of his Sexiest Man Alive cover story, which dropped the night before the 2022 midterm elections? "Go vote!"

He's Chivalrous

The Marvel star has been an award show hero on multiple occasions. In 2015, he escorted Betty White onto the stage to accept the TV icon award at the People's Choice Awards. And he kept up the Good Samaritan behavior at the 2019 Academy Awards: when actress Regina King stumbled a bit on her way to receive the award for Best Supporting Actress, Evans came to her rescue.

He Knows How to Play up His Best Features

Even before he got to play Prince Charming inside the 2019 Oscars, the Avengers actor looked the part on the red carpet in his custom Salvatore Ferragamo teal velvet coat. Stylist Ilaria Urbinati told PEOPLE she chose "this sort of fairy tale blue to go with his eyes," and we thank her for doing so. (As an added bonus, he brought his equally hot sibling, answering the question "Um, does he have a brother we can date?")

He Adores His Family

The cover star is extremely close with his family, and has often brought them along to various events and movie premieres. In 2016, Evans took his older sister, Carly, as his date to the Academy Awards, and he brought his younger sister, Shanna (pictured), the following year. (His mom even weighed in on his SMA title!)

The Fantastic Four actor is also tight with his younger brother, fellow actor Scott Evans. During quarantine in 2020, the siblings gave each other haircuts, appeared together on talk shows and shared their ongoing prank war on social media.

Speaking about his siblings on National Sibling Day, Evans tweeted, "Through siblings we practice trust, compassion, loyalty, creativity and love. I spent every waking second with mine creating the memories that I cherish above all others. Happy #NationalSiblingsDay to my first best friends."

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Evans (as Steve Rogers) effortlessly snaps a log in half while arguing with Tony Stark. Fans could hardly believe their eyes, and in a video where he responded to Google searches about him, he answered their burning question: "Did Chris Evans rip a log in half?"

"I mean...yeah," he says with a sly grin. "You know, I mean, was it made out of styrofoam? I don't know, that's nobody's business."

He Has a Good Sense of Humor

Evans knows when a situation warrants a good laugh, whether he's poking fun at himself or sharing the joke with a fellow star, like Lizzo.

The "About Damn Time" singer has voiced her adoration for Evans on social media multiple times, but her love reached hilarious heights when she shared a drunk Instagram message she sent to the star.

"The reason I'm upset about this one is because I know I'm not gonna be able to marry him, and honestly, it hurts me to the core," Lizzo explained of the slip-up in a lip-syncing video on TikTok audio. "Because damn papa, he a rare breed, no comparing. Like, Chris ..."

But luckily Evans, ever the gentleman, eased her worries and reassured her that online accidents happen, making a cheeky reference to when he shared an NSFW photo of himself the year before. "No shame in a drunk DM," Evans wrote in response, adding a kissing face emoji. "God knows I've done worse on this app lol."

He's a Dog Dad

In case you didn't think Evans could get any cuter, here's a photo of him with his dog, Dodger. Evans adopted his rescue mixed-breed boxer while filming the movie Gifted, and the two have been inseparable ever since (except for a 10-week hiatus due to a filming schedule that prompted the world's most heart-warming reunion video).

"He's just such a sweetheart, he's such a good boy. He loves dogs, he loves kids, he's full of love," Evans told PEOPLE. Sounds like the two are a match made in heaven!

The one upside to breaking up with Evans (besides getting to say you once dated the Hollywood heartthrob) is that you don't have to worry about lingering negativity. In 2017, the Marvel moviestar told ELLEthat he only has positive words for his exes, claiming that he's had "no bad breakups in [his] life."

"Typically, if I see an ex, I give a big hug, and it's wonderful to catch up," Evans said of his relationships with former flames, like comedian Jenny Slate (pictured). "If you're ever fortunate enough to love someone and have them love you back, it's worth protecting that."

Recently, the Boston-born actor showed his care for a cause when he and fellow actor Ryan Gosling raised $276,444 for pediatric cancer patients. The two A-list stars sponsored a raffle for tickets to the premiere of their movie The Gray Man. All of the proceeds from the drawing were donated to the Boston-based nonprofit Christopher's Haven, and the funds will provide more than 9,000 children and their families with affordable housing while they undergo cancer treatment.

Captain America can do it all! Evans debuted another one of his superpowers on his Instagram story when he shared a video of himself playing the piano. "Learning one of my favorites by Fabrizio Paterlini," he wrote alongside the clip of his smooth symphony, citing an Italian composer as the source of the song.

He Loves Cozy Clothing

Fans will never forget the white pullover that his Knives Out character wore in one scene. One year after the sweater frenzy, Evans was spotted sporting a kindred top on social media, proving that his own style isn't far off from what was seen on screen. (Even though he previously claimed to have removed similar sweaters from his fashion rotation.)

The on-screen superhero had nothing to hide about his wholesome response to the saga's wrap. Speaking on Good Morning America ahead of the Avengers: Endgame premiere, Evans opened up about his connection to the franchise.

"This has been an enormous part of my life, it'll follow me till the day I die. And when you think about it, it's easy to get emotional about it," he said of his eight-year run playing Captain America. "You try to prepare yourself for the completion and the day came and it was more than I thought it was gonna be. I was really, really beside myself. It just, it got me. I'm an emotional guy."
