Paramount Pictures debuted the first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, a new entry in John Krasinski's sci-fi franchise that takes audiences back to the first day the monsters depicted in 2018's A Quiet Place emerged on Earth. The new movie focuses on new characters with a cast that includes Lupita Nyong'o, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou and Stranger Things' Joseph Quinn, who each struggle to survive the initial onslaught after the lethal sound-based creatures appear. A Quiet Place: Day One is not the first time the series has visited the monsters' initial emergence. The 2021 sequel A Quiet Place: Part II opened with Krasinski, Emily Blunt and their onscreen family experiencing the first moments of the invasion. "Experience the day the world went quiet," reads an official synopsis for the upcoming movie. Paramount Pictures Day One is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig) from an original idea by series creator Krasinski; the story itself based on Bryan Woods and Scott Beck's characters and world for the series' first installment back in 2018. "The franchise is in the more than capable hands of director Michael Sarnoski, even though after seeing that [footage] I gotta be honest, I'm a little jealous," Krasinski told an audience of the movie at CinemaCon 2023. "I gave my baby away, but he did a great job." Paramount Pictures Krasinski, who has an upcoming project as a director with his upcoming family film IF, also said at the event, "One of my great joys has been creating and expanding the Quiet Place universe, and I couldn’t be more excited for this next installment." Back in February 2022, Paramount announced that A Quiet Place Part III, a direct sequel to the first two movies, will hit theaters in 2025. Djimon Hounsou, who appeared in Part II, will also be in Day One, as Nyong'o revealed via a cast photo she shared on Instagram in March 2023. A Quiet Place: Day One is in theaters June 28. Close
