The Saturday Night Live alum, 42, who was revealed as GQ’s 2024 Man of the Year on Tuesday, Nov. 12, spoke candidly to the publication about his whirlwind year as a new father of two, as well as his ongoing recovery from addiction. “There was a time when I would have told you that I could not fly, sleep, or perform unless I had a Klonopin,” Mulaney told the outlet. “I would have said, ‘It sucks because I don’t always want to take Klonopin and Xanax, but I have to.’ ” The comedian, who checked himself into rehab for cocaine and alcohol dependency in December 2020, recalled one “insane” night at the height of his addiction when he had taken so many drugs he thought he would die. “I thought, ‘Okay … I’m going to totally slow down. That was like a Tuesday. And Thursday night, I did it again,” he said. John Mulaney on the cover of 'GQ'.
