Jamie Foxx is ready to bring the funny!

On Wednesday, Foxx, 56, posted a video from one of his past stand-up specials to Instagram that shows him doing an impression of the late musician Prince. In the caption to his post, Foxx shared that he plans to return to performing comedy live. The video, taken from his 2002 HBO special I Might Need Security, shows Foxx joking about what the theme song to the 1970s sitcom The Brady Bunch would sound like if Prince sang the tune.

"PRINCE singing the Brady Bunch theme song was a moment… I’m planning on bringing more moments," Foxx wrote in a caption to the video. "Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you. I got some jokes, and a story to tell…"

Foxx, known for his prowess as an actor and musician, first rose to fame as a comedian; he was a cast member on the early '90s sketch show In Living Color and released three comedy specials between 1993 and 2003. Foxx also released five studio albums as a musician between 1994 and 2015 on top of his success in film and television.

That 2002 special featured Foxx spending an extended period of time at his piano onstage in Oakland, California, displaying a number of impressions of how various musicians would perform The Brady Bunch's theme.

The Django Unchained star was a major fan of Prince, who died at 57 in 2016. During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2017, Foxx recalled that he was "in awe of" the musician while speaking to the first time he met Prince on New Year's Eve in 1998 in Las Vegas. "All my cool went out the window - I started naming the albums, I'm f---cking up the titles," Foxx recalled. "He was so cool, and he knew I was shook."

Foxx has a number of movies currently in the works, including a new Netflix movie titled Back in Action, in which he costars with Cameron Diaz in her return to acting. The pair were midway through production on the movie in April 2023 when Foxx suffered a "medical complication" and spent a number of months out of the public eye. The pair were seen filming the movie again in January, and Netflix has teased that the movie will release in 2024.
