Halle Berry is focusing on women's health for her upcoming 58th birthday.

The Catwoman star, 57, revealed in an interview with Extra TV that she plans to spend her big day advocating for a new bill to raise public awareness on menopause, as well as provide training and resources to health care providers.

“I'm going to be in West Virginia with Senator [Shelley] Capito doing some advocacy work for my menopause bill,” she said, referring to the Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life Women’s Health Act introduced in May.

“I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday than fighting for all women,” she continued. “Can’t wait to get there.”

Berry said that this was an important topic for her to advocate for because she had not known much about menopause when she went through it.

“I realized about four years ago I was in perimenopause, and I thought I was going to miss it,” she said. “That’s what I thought — that’s how little I knew about it.”

“I realized if I knew so little about it, millions of other women must not know anything either because I pride myself on having the best doctors,” she continued. “I take my health seriously and I knew nothing, so that sort of ignited this fire in me to help myself and as I help myself, I know I am helping millions.”

The Oscar winner noted that focusing on women’s health is “going to be” her “second act,” and shared that the main thing that she thinks about right now is “How can I change the world for women and get us the health care we deserve during this really important time in our life?”

“It’s got to change, and I say it’s going to come now,” she added.

Berry has been very vocal over the past few months about wanting to “destigmatize” the idea of menopause and take out the idea of “shame” in it, which she shared during a press conference in Washington D.C., per a clip from the Associated Press

Her advocacy has even earned her a spot on Time’s 100 Health list. She shared in an Instagram post that she doesn't “take this work lightly. I do it for all the women who feel uninformed or were made to feel lesser than because of the stage of life they’re in.”

That isn’t the only change in Berry’s life, as she recently announced that she adopted two kittens, which she named "Boots” and “Coco,” after having been a "self-proclaimed, lifelong dog person” for the majority of her life.

“I just rescued four kitties I found in my yard three weeks ago," she shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, noting that the other two cats found "forever homes" elsewhere in an Instagram post. "I’m a Catwoman through and through, because of that experience and those relationships. That experience changed me.”

She also recently celebrated the premiere of her Netflix action-comedy film with Mark Wahlberg called The Union on Monday, Aug. 12 at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles. She stepped out in a long-sleeve black, sheer one-piece dress with floral accents for the event.

The Union releases on Aug. 16.
