Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Reveals Sex of Her Baby on the Way: 'Over the Moon'

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is getting closer to welcoming her little one!

On Saturday, Aug. 10, Blanchard revealed that she is expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Ken Urker. She shared the big news on Instagram, including a clip featuring a photo of the pair standing by an arrangement of balloons which they seemingly popped open to reveal pink confetti.

They then addressed the camera and gave a little message to their daughter. "Sweetie, I'm your mom," Blanchard said, and then Urker chimed in, "I'm your dad."

They both finished in unison, "You are a girl!"

In the caption of the post, Blanchard wrote to her followers: "The moment y’all have been waiting for... It’s a girl! Ken and I are over the moon and are so excited to start our family. We’re so thankful for our friends, neighbors, and families who came to our party today! We also want thank ya’ll for your love and support! 💕🎀✨."

In July, Blanchard spoke with PEOPLE about finding out she is expecting her first baby, sharing that she was shocked when she heard the news.

"I was very surprised," Blanchard told PEOPLE over Zoom — just a few hours after she announced she announced her pregnancy in a tearful YouTube video.

"His face was priceless," Blanchard's stepmom Kristy told PEOPLE over the phone of revealing the news to Urker.

"He just had a big smile on his face. It's such a blessing and it's still unreal. They will be great parents and cherish every minute of it," she added. "When they hold their baby for the first time, they won't be able to imagine their life without their child. Everything just melts away, even when she gets a lot of hate about it."

Blanchard and Urker rekindled their relationship after having previously been engaged while Blanchard was incarcerated for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

After two years, the couple broke off their engagement in 2019, and Blanchard went on to marry Ryan Anderson in 2022 while she was still in prison.

Blanchard, who was released in December 2023, filed for divorce from Anderson a few months later, in April. On June 3, Urker moved to Louisiana from Texas to be closer to Blanchard.

Blanchard, who was the victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy at the hands of her mother, told PEOPLE that she has been thinking about what kind of mother she wants to be.

"I want to be kind, that my kids come to me for any kind of advice, just like my stepmother," she said. "I have seen how she has parented her children — and I think she's a kick-ass mom."

"She's supportive and not overbearing," she continued. "She lets her kids find their dreams while also being able to pick up the pieces when those dreams fall apart sometimes — so that's kind of the mantra I want to live by."
