Donny Osmond Reveals What He Thinks of Nephew Jared Osmond Appearing on RHOSLC: 'To Each His Own'

Donny Osmond is reacting to one of his family members making their debut in the Bravo universe.

In an interview with E!, the Donny & Marie star revealed what he really thinks about his nephew Jared Osmond appearing on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Viewers were introduced to Jared, who is the son of Virl Osmond, during the current fifth season when he was in an on-and-off-again relationship with newbie Britani Bateman. 

"I understand it's a little bit risqué, but to each his own," Donny told the outlet. "I haven't watched it, but good for him. There's a lot of Osmonds." 

He later joked about the difficulty of staying in touch with the entire family, saying, "Let's put it like this: When there's a family reunion, the whole state of Utah comes together. That's how big it is."

Fans first learned that Donny and Jared were related when the women on the show pointed out their shared last name. In the season 5 premiere, RHOSLC star Heather Gay even said dating an Osmond “in Mormon culture is the equivalent of dating Prince Harry.”

Britani and Jared’s tumultuous relationship has been documented on the show, with the first episode showing Britani declaring that she was “single and ready to mingle” before she announced the two were officially back together a few episodes later.

The two then broke it off again and Britani moved on, bringing another man as her date to a cast party. Jared, however, showed up and he and Britani had a heart-to-heart about their feelings for one another, although the status of their relationship remained unclear.

On an Oct. 23 RHOSLC Aftershow following the shocking scene, Britani revealed details regarding the situation.

"Jared and I were on a break for about two weeks at that point, and I think Aaron [her date] and I had been out three or four times," she told costar Lisa Barlow. "Back then, my self-esteem was just in the toilet. And so I was like, 'Well, fine. I'm not the fish you want to catch? I'm not good enough for you?' Well, boom. I'm gonna get on social and see what I can do. Boom. 10,000 hits on Bumble. Boom. 15,000 on Tinder. And I'm gonna have my pick."

"I didn't need to have 10 people on rotation or whatever, but I did,” she continued. “I would stack them like three dates a night just for efficiency.”

She went on to confirm that she and Jared have been broken up for several months.

"I found shady stuff going on behind my back and I broke up [with him]," she said. "He was on a dating app and wouldn't show me his phone."
