Chris Evans had zero hesitation when he was asked to do a surprise cameo in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

"It was a couple years ago and I got a text from Ryan [Reynolds], we're buddies," Evans, 43, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "He just said, 'Listen, if you don't like this idea, no worries whatsoever. But I have something that could really bring the house down and would let you play a character from your past.' "

Evans reprises his Fantastic Four character of Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine, which arrived in theaters July 26.

"I mean, honestly, I would do anything Ryan asked," Evans says. "He gave me a great cameo in Free Guy already, and I just trust him completely. So the chance to be Johnny again, I couldn't pass up. I loved it. It was fun to shoot, fun to watch, all of it."

Audience members who stayed for the credits also got to witness a monologue by Evans that was filled with expletives and sexual innuendo.

"Ryan was like, 'Listen, if we need cue cards...' and I was like, 'Cue cards? I'm showing up off-book,' " Evans reveals.

"I don't get to say dialogue like this. Trust me. I'm going to enjoy every second of this. Memorized," adds the Avengers actor, who has also partnered with Jinx premium dog food brand to launch its United Service Organizations (USO) campaign.

Starting Aug. 1, Jinx will donate 5% of every purchase at Walmart to USO to help support military members, including the USO Canine Program.

"At the end of the day, Dodger is the real temperature check for me," Evans says of his dog with wife Alba Baptista. "He loves it, and that's all I needed to be a part of this."

Next up for Evans is the Christmas movie Red One, which hits theaters in November and costars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus.

"I love Christmas movies, and I love Christmas. So I jumped at the chance to be a part of this, and it was just such a relief when I finally saw it for the first time, it's great," the actor says.

"It really is a fun, exciting movie. Jake [Kasdan, the director] just knocked it out of the park. When I first read it, I really felt, 'God, this has a real [Steven] Spielberg vibe,' and that's exactly what Jake brought to the film. It feels special."
