Sometimes, Chappell Roan just wants to keep her outfits casual.

The “Pink Pony Club” singer, whose real name is Kayleigh Amstutz, has made her mark in the fashion world with her avant-garde getups. However, she wants you to know that her glam doesn't last for long once she gets off the stage.

In a an interview with Rolling Stone published on Tuesday, Sept. 10, the 26-year old pop star admitted that on a normal day, she prefers to rock low-key looks.

“I wear gray and black IRL because I can’t handle the s--- that I wear [onstage],” she said.

This year, Roan has worn everything from a wrestling-inspired look at Lollapalooza to a literal Statue of Liberty ensemble for her performance at the Governors Ball in New York. When she performed a show in Chicago before the city’s festival in August, she also pulled off a Marie Antoinette costume complete with a towering wig

Although she might not wear these over-the-top looks in her spare time, she does have a great appreciation for them.

"My stylist Genesis Webb and I pull from drag, we pull from horror movies, we pull from burlesque, we pull from theater," she told Jimmy Fallon on his late-night talk show in June. "I love looking pretty and scary. Or, like, pretty and tacky. Or just not pretty. I love that too."

The pop star further explained that, when it comes to fashion, she throws all rules out the window.

"I just think it's just not serious," she said. "I love that fans find such deep meanings to things and I'm just like, 'I don't know, I thought I looked hot.' Like, I don't know if it's anything more than that."

Webb and Roan’s admiration for each other’s work is mutual.  “She’s so game. She wants to do everything,” Webb praised in a July 9 interview with Harper’s Bazaar
