His appearance, notes The Times‘s Broadway correspondent Patrick Healy, is strictly a limited engagement, but raises the question of how ticket sales will survive after his departure. Sting steps into the show Dec. 9 and is scheduled to remain until Jan. 10. The Last Ship opened at the Neil Simon Theatre on Oct. 26. The show, about British shipbuilders, was inspired by Sting’s childhood in England. Reviews ranged from mixed to poor. Current cast member, British singer-actor Jimmy Nail, told The Times that he has “happily” given Sting his blessing to assume his role. Want more stories like this?
