A beaming Brent is walked down the aisle by proud mother Gwen Johnson. 03 of 12 WORD TO LIVE BY Genevieve de Manio Emotions ran high during the ceremony: Brent joked about his "inability to stop crying," while Sheri Salata, who officiated the wedding, was also deeply moved. "It was the stunning honor of my life to be asked and a love bomb of an experience," said Salata, president of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network amp Harpo Studios. "I will never forget, nor will anyone who got to walk into that blessing." 04 of 12 V.I.P. ATTENDEES Genevieve de Manio Some 220 guests attended the nuptials, including the grooms' families, as well as Berkus pal Oprah Winfrey, Rachael Ray and Busy Philipps. 05 of 12 IT'S OFFICIAL! Genevieve de Manio After exchanging identical gold bands from Van Cleef amp Arpels, Berkus and Brent share their first kiss as newlyweds. 06 of 12 COMIC RELIEF Genevieve de Manio The couple was more than ready to break a glass after saying their vows (a nod to Berkus's Jewish heritage), but they had some unexpected help from Salata. "[She] accidentally knocked our ceremonial glass off onto the floor and it broke," Berkus told PEOPLE. "It was hilarious and something we'll be laughing about 20 years from now!" 07 of 12 THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! Genevieve de Manio Just after the ceremony, a performance was given by Berkus's favorite choir, The Gospel for Teens/The Mama Foundation for the Arts. 08 of 12 THE STUNNING SETTING Genevieve de Manio Dinner time! Guests enjoyed a meal that included a beet salad with burrata, herb-stuffed roasted chicken, Black Angus ribeye and a variety of sides, like truffled mac and cheese and kale salad. 09 of 12 TABLE IT Genevieve de Manio Berkus and Brent turned to wedding planner Marcy Blum for help with the reception, using a palette of black, white, cream and gold to create a dreamy, modern feel. Berkus had an extra-special hand in the design, too, contributing table linens from his Calico collection and dinnerware sets from his Target line. 10 of 12 A LOOK OF LOVE Genevieve de Manio The fashionable husbands – Berkus wore a J.Crew suit, while Brent chose Saint Laurent – embrace after the ceremony. And the night just kept getting better: Marjorie Gubelmann, aka DJ Mad Marj, spun tunes at the reception, while singer Estelle sang her hit, "American Boy." 11 of 12 JUST DESSERTS Genevieve de Manio Guests indulged their sweet tooths with confections by Great Performances, and each left with a special souvenir to remind them of the culinary delights: a keepsake menu, designed by Swiss Cottage Designs. 12 of 12 LIGHT THE NIGHT Genevieve de Manio Not only was the guys' wedding stunning, but it was history-making: They were the very first same-sex couple to be married at the New York Public Library.
