Other guests included Ashlee Simpson, Seth Green, Faison’s Scrubs costar Sarah Chalke and Clueless costars Breckin Meyer, Elisa Donovan and Stacey Dash. “Everyone was teary-eyed,” says Appel. “It was very sweet.” Cobb, 35, and Faison, 38, who recited personal vows, incorporated the tradition of “jumping the broom” into the ceremony and also had a gospel choir perform their favorite songs. Family friend Joe Simpson also spoke. PHOTOS: I Do! Star Weddings of the Year “He talked about how Cacee is like his third daughter and how she is such a blessing and support to the Simpson family,” says Appel. “He was emotional.” At the lively reception, Simpson and Braff toasted their best friends. “Jessica mentioned how long she and Cacee have been best friends and how honored she is that Cacee is godmother to her daughter,” says Kelly Harris of Bash, Please. “She said Cacee’s like her soul mate.” Simpson later Tweeted a photo from the happy event. “I was the maid of honor last night for my BF @caceecobb,” wrote Simpson. “She was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen in my life!” After a moving first dance to a song by the groom’s pal Josh Radin, bluegrass band the Get Down Boys played as guests indulged in a menu from Whoa, Nelly, inspired by Cacee’s Southern roots: fried chicken, collard greens, sweet potato pie. In lieu of a wedding cake, guests chowed down on apple pie, butterscotch pudding and red velvet mini-cakes. Later, says Appel, “everyone danced all night” to the tunes from ’80s cover band Knyght Ryder. Even the groom got in on the action, jumping onstage to sing a New Edition song alongside his buddies. And in a final sweet note, every attendee went home with a nod to Donald’s favorite food, a mason jar containing a slice of yellow birthday cake with white frosting.
