Lifestyle Food 10 Things to Do on Halloween for Adults Yes, you're a grown-up — and yes, you can still eat obscene amounts of candy on Halloween By Diana Pearl Diana Pearl Diana Pearl is a former writer and reporter at PEOPLE. Sure, everyone eventually outgrows trick-or-treating, but that doesn't mean putting the holiday (or its traditions) behind for good. If anything, there's even more to do on Oct. 31 as a grown-up. From binge-watching a scary TV series and pumpkin carving to giving bobbing for apples and hayrides a try, here are 10 things to do on Halloween as an adult. Watch a scary movie This may be the easiest solution to getting your spooky fix that doesn't require leaving the couch. Win-win. Binge-watch a season of American Horror Story Want something a bit longer than a movie to stay busy on the couch on Halloween? Head to Hulu and stream a season (or several) of the always-creepy American Horror Story for hours of spine shivers. (Don't know where to start? Check our ranking of the first 10 seasons.) Carve pumpkins Interested in doing something that requires a bit — just a bit! — more physical activity than watching a movie or binging AHS? Pick up a pumpkin and break out the carving knife. This is a fun, creative way of getting into the Halloween spirit — and an arm workout. Go bobbing for apples This is such an autumn activity, but how many people actually do it? Without trick-or-treating, it's the perfect excuse to give it a go! Hit up a hayride Autumn is here, and so are hayrides! Not only are they adventurous, but there's really no better night to do it, particularly with the window of opportunity closing once winter arrives. Visit a haunted house Another excellent option for a Halloween adventure is visiting a terrifying attraction. Even if it's run by a bunch of teenagers, a haunted house will never fail to get you into the spooky spirit. Head to a Halloween party — or host one of your own! If you're afraid of getting scared (we get it), skip the horror and celebrate Halloween with a party. If you don't know anyone hosting one, step up to the plate yourself! Bake a candy cake Put an adult twist on Halloween candy with a candy-filled cake recipe. Not only is it tasty, but baking will keep you occupied on fright night. Put yourself in a sugar coma Baking isn't your thing? Celebrate Halloween the same way you did post-trick-or-treating: by eating an obscene amount of candy (no one said you have to share with trick-or-treaters). Hand out candy Passing along your favorite Halloween traditions to the next generation? Well, there's really nothing sweeter than handing out candy to costumed trick-or-treaters, is there? Close
