With 13 movies in the vault, the films of the Halloween franchise are some of the most recognizable the spooky season has to offer.

Directed by David Gordon Green, Halloween Kills — the 12th movie in the entire horror series and the second of its final (for now) trilogy — came out on Oct. 15, 2021, introducing newer faces like Dylan Arnold and Andi Matichak alongside the familiar ones of Jamie Lee CurtisKyle Richards and Nancy Stephens.

On Halloween in 2024, Curtis — who appeared in seven films in the series — celebrated the 46th anniversary of Halloween (1978) as the "first final girl."

“Throughout these years, I've had the opportunity to meet millions and millions of people whose lives were affected by that film and the subsequent films,” she wrote on Instagram. “That shared experience in a movie theater has bonded us all and so, on this Halloween night, I thank you for my creative life and my renewed belief that coming together as a group of people, with a common purpose, fighting for our lives together, brings out the best in us.”

See what the stars of Halloween Kills have been up to since the film hit the big screen in 2021.

As the franchise star, Jamie Lee Curtis once again reprised the role of Laurie Strode.

Although the actress has been involved in the Halloween series since the first film debuted in 1978, she shelved the role for some time and only came back after her godson, Jake Gyllenhaal, nudged her to do so in 2017.

"I was sitting in the exact place I am sitting right now when my phone rang, and it was Jake Gyllenhaal," she told SFX magazine in 2022. "I picked up the phone, and he said, 'Hey Jame, my friend David Gordon Green' — who he had just worked with on the movie Stronger — 'would like to talk to you about a Halloween movie.' That was in 2017, in the summer. The last thing I thought five years ago [is] that I would be doing would be a Halloween movie."

Needless to say, Gyllenhaal's phone call worked: Curtis reprised Laurie in Halloween Returns (2018), Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends (2022), the presumable closing chapter of the long-lasting movie franchise.

Still, her reach is not just limited to the slasher series. In 2023, the veteran actress snagged her career-first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). Curtis also took home her first Emmy for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series in 2024 for her role on The Bear as Donna Berzatto.

Since then, Curtis has portrayed Dr. Tannis in Eli Roth’s film adaptation of the popular video game series Borderlands (2024) and delivered what Variety chief film critic Peter DeBruge hailed a “force-of-nature supporting turn” in the Pamela Anderson-starring drama The Last Showgirl (2024).

Looking ahead, Curtis will reprise her role as Tess Coleman in Freakier Friday (2025), the highly anticipated sequel to the Disney remake Freaky Friday (2003). In November 2023, Deadline confirmed her casting in James L. Brooks’ upcoming comedy Ella McCay (2025), starring Woody Harrelson and Ayo Edebiri.

The actress has two TV projects forthcoming at Amazon Prime Video. Curtis will appear in the crime drama Scarpetta with Nicole Kidman, per The Hollywood Reporter, and Deadline has reported she'll both act in and executive produce the Margo Martindale-led The Sticky.

Curtis is married to Christopher Guest, the filmmaker behind This Is Spinal Tap (1984) and Best in Show (2000). They share two daughters: dancer Annie Guest and gaming editor Ruby Guest, who came out as transgender in 2021.

On working with franchise star Curtis, Matichak told ReMIND magazine in 2021, per TV Insider: “Jamie is an incredibly generous human being. … I’ve learned so much from her as an actor, as a storyteller, as an artist, as a woman, as a woman on a set. I’m just so proud to be a part of it and to be included in this legacy and involved in something that is this unique and special.”

Though she's still a rising star, Matichak had multiple roles under her belt before joining Halloween Kills, including series like Orange Is the New Black, Underground, Blue Bloods and Foxhole. In 2021, she starred with Emile Hirsch in the horror film Son from Ivan Kavanagh.

Playing the character was Robert Longstreet, whose impressive résumé includes appearances in Sorry to Bother You (2018), Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), Pieces of Her, I’m a Virgo and The Fall of the House of Usher. He was also known for his roles in The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep (2019).

Fun fact: Long before Kyle Richards was bringing the drama on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she was an actress — and one of her first roles was Lindsey Wallace in the original Halloween back in 1978.

Though she had other parts — starring in series such as Little House on the Prairie, Down to Earth, ER and many others — Richards reprised her role as Lindsey in Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

"I'm very grateful to have this opportunity to be playing Lindsey since I was 8 years old," Richards told Screen Rant in October 2022 while promoting Halloween Ends. "From the very beginning to the very end. I know very few people can say that, and it's a unique position to be in. I'm very grateful."

After Halloween Kills, Richards appeared in The Housewives of the North Pole (2021) and on the Hilary Duff-led How I Met Your Father in 2023. The following year, she booked roles in the LGBTQ+ romance movie The Holiday Exchange and Beautiful Wedding, the Roger Kumble-directed rom-com starring Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner.

Richards and her first husband, Guraish Aldjufrie, were married from 1988 to 1992. They welcomed a daughter, real estate agent Farrah Aldjufrie. She married again in 1996, tying the knot with Mauricio Umansky, with whom she has three daughters: Alexia Umansky, Sophia Umansky and Portia Umansky. They later separated after 27 years of marriage in 2023.

Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle

Unlike Curtis and Richards' characters, the role of Tommy Doyle has been played by several actors. Brian Andrews depicted the little boy in the original 1978 film, but in the '90s, a young, promising actor by the name of Paul Rudd stepped in to fill the role in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995).

Seasoned actor Anthony Michael Hall took over the character in Halloween Kills after booking parts in The Dark Knight (2008) and on shows like The Dead Zone, Psych, Awkward and The Goldbergs. More notably, he gained fame in classic Brat Pack flicks like Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985) and Weird Science (1985).

Speaking to Screen Rant about taking on Tommy in Halloween Kills in 2021, Hall said: “I … felt excited by the way David [Gordon Green] really saw Tommy as kind of like the eye of the storm. He's leading the town and leading the charge. I've never had that kind of a specific hero's part; I was really jazzed by that. And because of the fact that it's basic good versus evil, everything was very clear for me.”

Since appearing in the slasher, Hall has been featured in the drama film The Class (2022) and the action-packed Trigger Warning (2024), starring Jessica Alba. Next up, audiences can catch him in season 3 of Amazon Prime Video's Reacher, per Deadline.

Hall has been married to model-actress Lucia Oskerova since 2020. They welcomed their first child, son Michael Anthony Hall II, in 2023.

Another Halloween mainstay, Stephens originated the role of Marion Stephens and played the character numerous times throughout the franchise, including in Halloween II (1981) and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998).

For the most part, Stephens stays out of the spotlight, though she's had small roles on Cheers, Beverly Hills, 90210, Ally McBeal and Boston Legal in between playing Marion.

Before Halloween Kills, she had taken a break from acting for nearly two decades. In 2024, she made another rare return to the screen in the LGBTQ+ horror movie Ladybug. According to Deadline, that same year, Stephens received an executive producer credit for the documentary The Shepherd and the Bear, which premiered at the 2024 Camden International Film Festival.

If you ever wondered who was under that petrifying mask in the original Halloween, look no further.

He also shares credit in the final trilogy with actor and stunt double James Jude Courtney, who had bit parts on series like Babylon 5 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer before joining the movie series.

In addition to his involvement in the Halloween franchise, Castle’s other film credits include Escape from New York (1981), which he co-wrote the screenplay for; The Last Starfighter (1984), which he helmed; and The Boy Who Could Fly (1986), which he wrote and directed.
