C,XOXO follows Cabello's three previous albums, 2018's Camila, 2019's Romance and 2022's Familia.

Cabello launched into the new era with the electro-pop song "I Luv It" featuring rapper Playboi Carti in March, marking a new sound for the "Havana" hitmaker, who debuted platinum blonde hair alongside the release.

"I Luv It" has reached No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Cabello delivered the track's first live performance during Lana Del Rey's headlining set at the second weekend of Coachella in April.

"Certain things in our human realm do make me feel like I’m in outer space, and the very rare few times where I’ve had incredible chemistry with someone is one of them," she said in a statement about the song.

"Part of that cocktail is also the emotional drama between you and that person, and the chaos and butterflies and nerves and passion. It’s unsustainable and not peaceful and exhausting, but also, I LUV IT," continued Cabello at the time.

In an interview around "I Luv It" with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, the Grammy-nominated singer opened up about how C,XOXO collaborators Pablo "El Guincho" Díaz-Reixa (Rosalía's Motomami, FKA Twigs' Caprisongs) and Jasper Harris (Jack Harlow's "First Class," Tate McRae's "Greedy") helped her usher in a sonic departure from her previous work.

"I do feel like I'm a weirdo, and that's the music that I love, and that's the music that I feel the most proud of making. I think a lot of times it comes to finding people that are weirdos too, and Jasper's a weirdo, Guincho's a weirdo, and I think the three of us were able to just keep it in this bubble of like, we don't give a f---, and we're just going to do what we think is fire."
