Corey Cott has played a lot of roles in his career, but the one that was hardest for him came as a bit of a surprise.

The actor, who is currently starring in The Heart of Rock and Roll on Broadway, stopped by Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday, April 18 where he opened up about officiating his brother Casey Cott's 2021 wedding to wife Nichola Basara.

It being the first wedding he ever officiated, and for someone very close to him, Corey told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos it was "maybe the most nervous" he's ever been.

"I’ve performed for thousands of people on live TV at Radio City, and doing that was maybe the most nerve-wracking thing ever," he said, referencing when he sang with the cast of Bandstand at the 2017 Tony Awards.

Both Ripa and Consuelos attended the Casey's wedding, which was held on Dec. 18, 2021 at the Four Seasons in Whistler, Canada — not far from where both Consuelos and Casey filmed Riverdale. And on Live, the married pair praised Corey's work, telling him he "did a good job."

Corey, 34, wound up being his brother's best man too, and gave a speech Consuelos said "killed."

"I ended up making fun of Canadians a lot," Corey admitted. "I didn’t intend it to be a Canadian roast, but it becomes that. I was on their turf making fun of them and I felt horrible after that."

Corey is married himself, to wife Meghan Woollard.

The couple — who tied the knot in 2012 and are parents to sons Asher, 2, Nolan, 4, and Elliott Michael, 7 on May 1 — met while he was at Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and got engaged shortly thereafter.

"l was 22, she was 24," Corey said on Kelly and Mark, before recalling how he decided to pop the question in front of his Carnegie Mellon classmates.

"The last day of drama school, we all sing for each other; the entire program there, we get up and [perform] in front of 100s of people," he described. "And I decided to sing a song to her and propose to her in front of all of them."

For the move, he choose a tune by Josh Groban, proposing on the final note. "Thankfully, she said yes," he joked.

The Heart of Rock and Roll is Corey's fourth Broadway show.

He made his debut on the boards in September 2012 as Jack Kelly in Newsies, and went on to star in 2015's Gigi (opposite Vanessa Hudgens) and the aforementioned Bandstand.

Using the beloved music of Huey Lewis and The News like "Do You Believe in Love," "Hip to Be Square," "The Power of Love" and "If This Is It," The Heart of Rock and Roll tells an original story of wannabe rock and roller Bobby and his corporate boss Cassandra, who get a second chance at their dreams. Jonathan A. Abrams penned the book, from a story he crafted with Tyler Mitchell.

"The show is this incredible vibe of unfeathered optimism and positive energy," Corey said on Live. "It’s a John Hughes rom-com, a love letter to the '80s with Hugh Lewis and the News."

Previews are now underway at The James Earl Jones Theatre, with an opening night scheduled for Monday, April 22.
