Mulligan shared that her love of music began as a child when her grandmother used to sing with her. "My grandmother was Welsh. Singing is a huge part of Welsh culture and so I grew up singing and loving music" she said. Upon learning this, Cooper asks Mulligan to sing a song in Welsh. When she hesitates, he does his best to belt out a tune in Welsh, which makes Mulligan break into laughter. After Cooper is done singing, he quips that, "Marcus would be proud," referring to Mulligan's husband, musician Marcus Mumford. Mulligan and Cooper are both nominated for their leading roles in Maestro, in which Mulligan, 38, plays actress Felicia Montealegre, the wife of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, portrayed by Cooper, 49. "When my name came up, everyone screamed, and my baby started crying," Mulligan, who shares three kids with Mumford, recalls. The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live on Sunday, March 10, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
