The Last Showgirl Trailer: See Pamela Anderson Like Never Before in a Role Earning Her Awards Buzz

The actress stars as a seasoned showgirl whose show suddenly closes after playing for decades in Las Vegas

Pamela Anderson is exploring the complexities that come with the life of an entertainer in The Last Showgirl.

The first teaser trailer for the drama debuted Thursday, Nov. 14, showcasing Anderson, 57, in a role that already earned her a Gotham Award nomination for outstanding lead performance.

In the film directed by Gia Coppola, Anderson stars as Shelly, a seasoned Las Vegas showgirl whose show abruptly closes after a 30-year run, leaving her future up in the air. A synopsis sells The Last Showgirl as a "poignant film of resilience, rhinestones and feathers."

The cast also includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Billie Lourd, Kiernan Shipka and Brenda Song. The movie features an original song called “Beautiful That Way,” performed by Miley Cyrus.

News of Coppola's latest feature-length project, her first since 2020's Mainstream, first broke in February 2024, when Deadline reported the cast list and that the film had wrapped production.

"I’ve always wanted to make a movie in Vegas," Coppola, 37, told Deadline back in February. "I'm so proud of our cast and crew, especially Pamela. I can’t wait to share her daring and heartfelt performance."

Coppola recently told Entertainment Weekly that Anderson "is the Marilyn [Monroe] of our time," and she came to the realization while watching the star's 2023 documentary Pamela, a Love Story.

She also praised Anderson as "very intelligent" and an "interesting human being" while noting her "art background, and I could see she was a woman that was really craving to express herself as an actress creatively."

"I saw a lot of parallels with [her character] Shelly, but I also saw this was a person that was really hungry to show her talents," the director added, recalling of considering who would play Shelly, "It was all these actresses from the past I would dream about: 'Wouldn’t this be an interesting role for Marilyn Monroe?' "

The Last Showgirl is in select theaters Dec. 13, then nationwide Jan. 10.
