The brother-sister duo marked Steve Irwin Day by penning sweet tributes to their late father, who died in 2006 at the age of 44 after being stung by a stingray while filming a documentary off the coast of Australia. Bindi Irwin Says Dad Steve's 'Kindness' and 'Love' Will 'Live on Forever' According to the Australia Zoo's website, the annual Nov. 15 event recognizes Irwin's "passion for wildlife and commitment to conservation." To honor her father on the special day, Bindi, 25, shared a throwback photo on Instagram in which she gently rested her head on his shoulder. "To the world, he will be remembered as the greatest Wildlife Warrior. To our family, he will be remembered as our world," Bindi wrote in the caption. The comment section was filled with heartwarming messages from fans. "The world loved him and the world loves your beautiful family! Thank you for doing what you do every day. He is proud of you- absolutely not doubt about it," wrote one of Bindi's followers. Another comment read: "I genuinely believe if he was around, the world would be a far better place. Nature's strongest voice is sorely missed." Robert Irwin Gets Emotional Sharing Zoo Milestone Tied to Late Father Steve: 'Dad Would Be Pretty Proud' For his tribute, Robert, 19, shared a video on Instagram in which Irwin spoke about his conservation work and said he wanted to be remembered for his "passion and enthusiasm" towards it. "Today, November 15 is Steve Irwin Day. A day to remember our dad, the greatest Wildlife Warrior on the planet. He was one man who changed the world forever and continues to inspire the next generations," Robert wrote in the caption. Wildlife Warriors, a non-profit organization started by Irwin and his wife Terri in 2002, explained on its website that the day "represents the many things Steve was passionate about: family, fun and wildlife conservation." "It’s a day where people around the world join together to raise money for Wildlife Warriors to help continue Steve’s conservation work and the preservation of wildlife and wild places," the organization's website adds. While marking what would have been Irwin's 61st birthday in February, Bindi dedicated an Instagram post to her late father in which she thanked him for teaching her to love animals. "Thank you for instilling a love for all species, courage to follow my heart and determination to make a difference in the world for wildlife and wild places," Bindi wrote.
