On Sunday, Sept. 8, the 49-year-old actress made her way to Canada for the world premiere of her latest project, Without Blood. Jolie, who directed the war drama, turned heads in a silk, black Dolce & Gabbana gown with ruching details along the bottom. She accessorized the simple, but elegant look with a pair of elbow-length, opera-style silk gloves that exuded old school glam. The filmmaker parted her long blonde hair down the middle, and let her classic gown speak for itself by opting against wearing any jewels for the event. Pax, who is recovering from a July e-bike accident, wore a black suit and tie paired with dark shades on the red carpet. A scar was visible on his forehead, but he appeared to be in good spirits as he joined the audience in giving his mom and the film's cast a standing ovation. (Pax also worked on the film in the assistant director department.) Without Blood, which is described as a "parable-like tale of family, war and revenge," stars Salma Hayek, Demián Bichir and Juan Minujín. The movie was filmed at Rome’s famed Cinecittà Studios. Her blonde hair was parted to the side and styled sleek and straight, while her red lipstick added a pop of color. According to Vogue, the Cartier designer brooch Jolie wore actually belonged to Maria Callas, the iconic opera singer she portrays in the new biopic. The brooch Jolie wore on the red carpet (she also wears it in the film) was a 1972 Rose Ouvrante in the shape of a flower that features diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies. The jewelry also has a special mechanism that makes the flower petals open and close. "I was also charmed at how it transformed from a closed flower that then blooms," Jolie told Vogue. "I like to think it made her smile. The little secret in the piece." Close
