Adele is opening up about a recent health issue.

The singer, 36, told audience members at her Las Vegas residency on Friday, Oct. 25, that she is recovering from a painful ear infection that has left her "a bit deaf."

A video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) shows Adele onstage during her recent concert at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace explaining her temporary hearing loss.

"I actually have an ear infection, which is pretty grim. I've never had an ear infection before," she said. "It is the most painful thing that has ever, ever happened to me in my life — it was worse than childbirth."

Adele continued to say that the ear infection was caused by a "rare water bacteria" that was difficult to treat. The singer shared that she was put on "the wrong antibiotics for a few days" before being given medication that "started to work."

"I am no longer in pain, which is great," she added.

The "Easy on Me" singer is still dealing with a few lasting symptoms of her illness, but she went on to say that there was "no way I was missing the f------ show."

Ear infections are a common condition, but more so in children. According to Mayo Clinic, the illness is "an infection of the middle ear, the air-filled space behind the eardrum that contains the tiny vibrating bones of the ear." Common symptoms for adults include ear pain, draining of fluid from the ear and impaired hearing.

When it comes to hearing loss, Mayo Clinic says it is "fairly common with an ear infection, but it usually gets better after the infection clears."

In some cases, one may experience permanent hearing loss if there is "damage to the eardrum or other middle ear structures."

The singer's Weekends with Adele residency in Las Vegas resumed on Friday, Oct. 25 and will continue through Nov. 23, after having initially begun in November 2022.

The tour dates were originally scheduled for March, but Adele postponed them in February after having to "take a beat" and go on vocal rest. "I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break," she said at the time. "I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed, and now I am sick again and unfortunately it’s all taken a toll on my voice."

Adele revealed during her 10-date residency in Munich in September that she will be taking a break from performing “for an incredibly long time" after she finishes up in Las Vegas.

"I have 10 shows to do, but after that I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart,” she said.
