The power of a great marketing campaign… 😯💥 We’d first like to be clear that this post is in no way political, it is simply recognition of a standout marketing strategy and the perfect example of how impactful a well-executed campaign can actually be. Labour – in an effort to attract the younger voter one would assume 😎 – has gone heavy on social media, with memes, jokes and sarcasm plastered all across TikTok (not to mention Google, YouTube and Facebook, etc.) The Guardian reports that one video posted from Labour’s camp “racked up almost 700,000 likes, more than double the likes on all the Tories’ TikToks put together” – whether you like the party or not, THAT is an impressive statistic and highlights exactly what can be achieved under the leadership of a stellar marketing strategy. December19 | B Corp™ and House 337 are next on stage to accept their Bronze Effectiveness Award for ‘Xero - How a healthy brand created a healthy business.’ Xero’s story demonstrates how a smaller brand can close the gap with bigger rivals by investing in memorably humorous and empathetic advertising. After 10 years in the UK’s business accounting software market, New Zealand’s Xero brand had relatively low awareness and consideration. By investing in broad reach media and emphasising its Kiwi-ness by using a performer from cult NZ comedy ‘Flight of the Conchords’ in its advertising, Xero increased awareness, appeal, and trustworthiness. This case includes evidence that branding and commercial goals were exceeded, helping return an estimated long-term gross profit of £4.07 for each £1 invested in marketing. Conversion Rates - An Aussie, A Pom & A Saffa walk into a.... Podcast studio! eCommerce is flooded with half-baked tactics: pointless pop-ups, endless sales, and gimmicks that scream desperation. Brands want loyalty, but all they’re attracting are discount vultures. Sound familiar? Adam and I had a cracking time on the eCommerce Australia Podcast with Ryan Martin , diving into the good, the bad, and the downright painful truths of Conversion Rate Optimisation. If you're sick of the discount-driven, “let’s throw everything at the wall” approach, you’ll want to hear this. If your only way to boost sales is a discount code, your brand’s in trouble. Short-term sales hacks bring in low-value customers and eat at your brand’s credibility. How’s that for a “growth strategy” We dished out practical, no-nonsense tactics to drive sales without sacrificing brand value: • Speak to Customers, Not at Them – Forget the flashy UX, and focus on what customers actually care about. • Cut the Fluff – Stop overcomplicating the journey. Less is more – and every click counts. • Nail Your Product Pages – High-quality images, killer copy, and clear calls to action. It’s not hard, but so many get it wrong. • Optimise for Mobile First – The amount of sales lost to messy mobile layouts is insane. • Upsell Without Discounting – If you think discounts are the only way to boost AOV, it’s time to rethink.
