We are working with novel clinical trials which span several years, and we need to operate at the leading edge of technological capabilities. Blazor is that: a global software shift which is only the beginning for emerging health tech efficiencies. “Many database developers lack the ability to ensure the longevity of their code and development language. This shift supports the continuity and lifespan of our product well into the future, providing significant benefits to our clients and their novel trial innovation.” — Cain Harland, Technical Lead, Spiral. By investing in this transformative software shift, we can confidently say that our clients’ clinical trials will have the ability to become more effective, efficient and adaptive. The clinical research conference circuit across Australasia requires several months of preparation to ensure our team can meaningfully participate, capture insight, and share these reflections across our respective networks. This circuit presents a critical opportunity for collaboration with researchers leading and advancing infectious disease research. A primary message for us all; ‘Engage Early.’ A great example of this was a trial initially designed to administer a daily tablet to women with perinatal infectious diseases. Many of the women enrolled in the trial were experiencing challenging living conditions in lower socio-economic conditions. After further exploration into the success of administering these drugs, the trial was adjusted to a twice-yearly injection. Today, we’re attending the #ANZICS Winter Research Forum in Queenstown —a forum dedicated to the Intensive Care Community of Australasia. This event creates space and connections for investigators to gain early advice from their peers, explore research proposals collectively, and foster a collaborative approach to intensive care research. Our CEO, Audrey Shearer, will lead a presentation session titled ’What Trialists Don’t See’ from a developer's perspective. This presentation will cover how platform trials are an emerging innovative design methodology, why they have the potential to be perpetual, and how small design choices within an application can have significant implications for usability, data accuracy, and trial outcomes. From Queensland to Sydney, we're now on our way to support the upcoming ANZCA Strategic Research Workshop. This workshop helps strengthen the collaborative approach to multicentre research in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine. Our sponsorship of this workshop aligns perfectly with our new focus area, complementing our involvement in ICU and infectious disease trials. At Spiral, we believe in making the world a better place by reimagining research tools. This workshop, with its emphasis on innovative design methodologies for clinical trials, reinforces this mission. #CTN2024 #ANZCA #clinicaltrials #spiralsoftware #adaptiveplatformtrials #apts #clinicalresearch

That's a wrap on the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Network meeting in Queensland. Held at the stunning location on the 78th floor of SkyPoint on the Gold Coast, the view wasn’t the only thing that impressed me. The event was packed with innovative discussions, presentations and insights that provided me with these key takeaways: -It was a privilege hearing our long-time collaborators Professors Joshua Davis and Steven Tong speak on ‘Designing Your Study,’ a topical subject in line with our work at Spiral. - Quick-fire presentations by early career researchers showcased the strong support for infectious disease research, with valuable feedback to help them advance their trials. - The future of infectious disease research is looking bright, with researchers asking innovative questions and considering global impacts, especially in less advantaged regions like parts of Africa and Asia. A major theme was diversity and early engagement: - Engaging with consumer and indigenous groups during the design phase enhances feedback and community involvement. - Adjustments based on community input, like switching to a 6-month injection from a daily pill, led to higher enrolment and engagement. - Engaging early with statisticians and database providers, like us at Spiral, is crucial to avoid dead ends and ensure a smooth trial design and grant submission process. These insights only touched the surface of the learnings we took away, highlighting how valuable these events are for the medical industry and the advancement of treatments for people across the world. -Audrey Shearer, CEO and Founder, Spiral Software #ASID #globalhealthoutcomes #clinicaltrials #randomisation #bespoketrialdesign #infectiousdiseases #spiralsoftware #healthtech #adaptiveclinicaltrials #clinicalresearch #humancenteredtrialdesign
