Driving Change: Harnessing Education, Advocacy, Health & Safety, and Process Mastery for Systematic Success.
I have been doing lots of reflecting on the influencers in the workplace - Mentors...I have written my thoughts on ‘real‘ mentoring in the workplace. The Magic of Mentoring: In the journey of professional development, and career progression, there exists a force that often goes unnoticed, yet its impact is profound and transformative. It's the magic of ‘'real'’ mentoring. I see mentors as guiding lights, illuminating the path for individuals striving to achieve their dreams and goals. They impart wisdom, offer support, and instill invaluable lessons that shape not only careers but also character. For many, the act of mentoring is innate, a selfless gesture driven by a desire to see others succeed. These mentors may not even realise the extent of their influence, but their contributions leave a lasting mark on the lives they touch. Consider the story of a young fella whose aspirations seemed distant, in fact not even attainable. However, throughout thirteen years, he came across several genuine mentors who significantly contributed to his success. A dedicated training advisor, a seasoned supervisor, and supportive employers each instilled essential lessons in integrity, respect, and hard work, shaping the foundation of his professional principles. The essence of mentoring lies in its ability to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Classroom learning can only take one so far; it is the on-the-job experience guided by a mentor that truly hones skills and instills confidence. With an on-job 'real' mentor, mistakes become learning opportunities, and the challenges pave the way for professional and personal growth. Positive mentoring experiences are characterised by mutual respect, honest feedback, and support beyond the confines of the workplace. Mentors not only impart knowledge but also nurture a passion for learning and a sense of pride in one's achievements. For the young fella who once struggled to realise his dreams, mentoring has been the catalyst for his success. With unwavering integrity, excellence, and hard work as his guiding principles, he has embarked on a new challenge, one where he now can become the ‘real’ mentor for the next young person who has not yet realised their dream. His journey is a testament to the transformative power of 'real' mentorship, proving that with the right guidance and support, anything is possible. In a world where success is often measured by individual accomplishments, and titles and badges motive, let us not forget the unsung heroes, without the title or badge, who selflessly invest their time and wisdom in nurturing the next generation of leaders. The magic of mentoring lies not only in the achievements it fosters but also in the lasting impact it leaves on the hearts and minds of those it touches. Our trades need 'real' mentors

Yaaay !!!! Well, here it is. My newest children's story picture book received its ISBN publishing cert 😍. "My Mum's a Roofer" It's an interactive children's picture book that embeds and intertwines English with Te Reo Māori. It's full of magical colorful illustrations that accompanies the humorous fun story that is all about Mum's journey through her Roofing Apprenticeship. As a lifelong supporter of Women in Trades NZ. I am delighted to be able to support New Zealand Women in Roofing with such a fun project. 😊
