Upcoming Event: Growing New Zealand's Competence in Asia NZIIA Christchurch is hosting a talk by Dr James To, Manager of the Asia New Zealand Foundation's Track II Programme. Professor Pant will talk about Modi 3.0, and India's Global Outreach, touching on the relationship between India and the Indo-Pacific. Hot off the trails of PM Chris Luxon's business delegation to Japan, Brian Lynch discusses the issues and challenges facing Japan–New Zealand relations in the Indo–Pacific. Brian explores how the two states build on their shared desire for a free and open Indo–Pacific, exemplified through their support for the ambitious Free Trade Area of the Asia–Pacific, as well as their commitment to the CPTPP and RCEP. The two countries also pursue collaboration on a number of sector-focused agreements, deepening cooperation in such areas as the digital economy and #ecommerce. Brian's article appears in the July/August edition of the New Zealand International Review, which is available to all members of the NZIIA. The July/August edition of the New Zealand International Review is now out! This is the NZIIA's flagship publication, and the primary international relations journal of its type in New Zealand. This edition features an address made by HE Harinder Sidhu, the Australian High Commissioner to New Zealand, discussing the state of the Australia–New Zealand Relationship. Her talk touches on such topics as the #AUKUS partnership, the need for strategic reassurance in an era of heightened defence spending, and expanding the Australia–New Zealand economic partnership to include new topics, such as climate change and the digital economy.
