Last month, Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ) published the story of Akashdeep Singh Beniwal, a PhD student at Massey University in Aotearoa New Zealand, and it's honestly mint. Growing up on a dairy farm in the Punjab, he’s now developing sustainable protein alternatives that could help change the way we think about food production (E.g. emulating a cow’s digestion process of turning grass into milk protein in the laboratory!). What stood out to me was not just the science (although quite brilliant), but the way he’s embraced life in Aotearoa New Zealand. From collaborating with start-ups like Miruku to getting involved in local sports and volunteering (shout out to Manawatū Special Olympics football team), his journey is a great example of how research and community can come together. It’s a nice reminder of the potential that international education has, not just for finding innovative solutions to the complex challenges we face in today's world, but for building connections and creating new opportunities. Business Partnerships Key To Trade Relationship With India Opinion: Following a year of positive engagement, the India New Zealand Business Council (INZBC) urges the government to stick to its strategy of building relationships between our two countries and supporting industry collaborations across the sectors.
