Who regulates the press in Norway? 👇 📰 Imagine that you're interviewed for a newspaper article, but when it's published, you don't agree with how you're profiled. What rights do you have? 🤷♂️ Aftenposten has almost reached its 7th year of not being sanctioned by PFU (Pressens Faglige Utvalg) in Norway for a breach in press ethics 👏 We sat down with Morten Andersen, Chief of staff at Aftenposten to talk about how press ethics are regulated in Norway, and to clarify: ✔️ "Vær Varsom-plakaten" ✔️ PFU, Pressens Faglige Utvalg ✔️ Why such ethical regulations matter "We spend a lot of time discussing press ethics. However, mistakes happen, and then we need to handle it in the best way possible. That's also a way to build trust," Morten says. #journalism #pressethics #ethics #media #trust #schibstedmedia

👋 Meet Mimmi – DesignOps and UX Manager in the Brand Experience area at Schibsted Marketplaces. Mimmi thrives on creating clarity and making things better for the people around her. Whether it’s solving problems or helping her team shine, she focuses on little changes that lead to big results. Let’s get to know her better! ✨ 💬 Tell us about your role! I work in the Brand Experience area at Schibsted Marketplaces, supporting all our verticals and brands. My time is split between being DesignOps Manager and UX Manager for a Nordic team. What I love most about my role is enabling people—solving problems, creating clarity, or supporting my team in their projects. It’s rewarding to see how tiny tweaks can lead to big improvements in both results and team satisfaction. 💬 What’s a typical day in your life at Schibsted Marketplaces? No two days are the same! My mornings often start with a focus hour to plan my day. Then, I work on DesignOps, currently focusing on tools to support cross-Nordic user research. We have 80+ designers across five countries, most working on products that span all our brands. It’s tricky, but I love solving complex problems! Other days, I have 1:1s to ensure my designers have what they need to succeed. My role is a mix of planning, problem-solving, and fostering growth. 💬 How would you describe your colleagues and the culture? My colleagues are talented, helpful, and fun. The culture is inclusive and collaborative, with people always ready to share ideas and help out. My leadership team is honest, efficient, and supportive—we laugh often, which helps during busy times. 💬 What is the most important thing you’ve learned from a colleague? One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that it’s okay not to have all the answers. Leading with vulnerability builds trust and strengthens relationships. Assuming positive intent from others also helps me approach challenges with openness. 💬 Tell us about yourself! I grew up on a small island on Sweden’s east coast. Outside of work, I love running and spending time in nature with my family. My 4- and 7-year-olds keep me busy and remind me to stay present (and humble!). 💬 If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be and why? I’d die for lunch with Brené Brown. Her insights on leadership and vulnerability have shaped my thinking. I’d ask her advice on balancing empathy with tough decisions. #schibstedmarketplaces

Profile driven content engages Aftenposten's young adult readers 💗👇 Aftenposten's Vink has cracked the code for reaching young adults in Oslo by combining strategic content creation, engaging personalities, and a strong presence on social media. Their focus? Delivering high-quality, independent editorial content tailored to the city’s vibrant lifestyle. The results speak for themselves 📈 ⭐ ✔️ A tenfold increase in article and post views since launch. ✔️Nearly 70,000 followers on Instagram and over 23,500 on TikTok. ✔️Weekly traffic from social platforms rivals their own website. How did they do it? 🤷♀️ Through experimentation, they discovered that focusing on themes like food and drink resonated with their audience—and social algorithms. SoMe journalists Ellen Eriksen and Henriette Berg brought their personalities into the mix, building trust with followers while keeping a clear line between journalism and influencer culture. As Vink's editor Cecilie Asker puts it: “If you strategically repurpose your content and think beyond just your own platform, the traffic boost can be remarkable.” By positioning themselves as a reliable and engaging guide to city life, Vink shows how editorial brands can thrive in the competitive landscape of digital media. Their success is a reminder that even when “giving away” content on social platforms, audiences will still seek out quality journalism. 🔗 Read the full story on Vink's success in the M24 article in the comment section. #Aftenposten #media #journalism #GenZ #newsmedia #Vink #Oslo

The AI tool that can transform complex narratives into compelling stories 👇 ✨ During last week's Journalism AI Festival, Martin Schori, Director of Innovation & AI at Aftonbladet, and his team presented on their work with Aura at #JournalismAIFestival this week, hosted by the global JournalismAI initiative. Schori was also one of JournalismAI’s 2024 fellows. He collaborated with a team of colleagues from both tech and editorial backgrounds at The Economist, Indian Express, and Denmark’s BR. Together, they developed Aura, an AI-powered tool that transforms complex scientific papers, press releases, and more into compelling storylines. Aura’s capabilities include: ✅ Generating three newsworthy storylines while explaining their significance. ✅ Incorporating user input for tailored suggestions. ✅ Offering additional user-specific storylines to suit unique angles. #innovation #sharingknowledge #JournalismAI #AI #journalism #newsmedia #media #schibstedmedia

This week, Schibsted Marketplaces' Head of M&A and Investment Portfolio, Fredrik Bjørland, took the stage at the Wiersholm Nordic Buy Out Forum 2024 to tell our story – going from a media tech conglomerate, separating media and marketplaces in the summer of this year, reducing our stake in Adevinta and building our marketplaces operations into a pure-play marketplaces company. Today we hosted the 14th annual Nordic Buy Out Forum in Oslo!
