Agnes is head of Schibsted Media’s inclusion lab IN/LAB and responsible for trust initiatives at Schibsted Media. Through initiatives like Nordic AI Journalism and Schibsted’s IN/LAB, Agnes champions the use of AI to promote inclusion, trust, and democracy in media. Through her work, she demonstrates how technology can strengthen citizens' access to reliable and relevant information.     Today, the European Commission announced that it has adopted a decision finding that Meta violated EU competition rules in the markets for online classified ads. Schibsted Marketplaces has actively followed the procedure and given input to the Commission. “We welcome that the Commission has brought this case to an end today. We have long expressed our concerns about Meta’s unfair practices in the markets for online classified ads and are happy to see that the Commission acted forcefully to protect fairness and contestability in the European digital markets. We look forward to seeing how Meta will comply with the Commission’s decision,” says Christian Printzell Halvorsen, CEO of Schibsted Marketplaces.

    👋  Meet Jovana, a Product Manager at Schibsted Marketplaces who’s been with FINN.no – mulighetenes marked for five years. Starting as a market analyst, she is now the PM of the Recruiter Success team, and her passion for teamwork is at the heart of what she does. Let’s get to know her a little better! 💬 So, Jovana, what’s your role like? As a Product Manager, I’m the team’s advocate, which means lots of meetings and collaboration! I talk to many people each day, but my favourites are my teammates, our users and sales teams. Recently, I’ve also been carving out some focus-time to think, write, and crunch numbers—it’s a nice balance to all the meetings. 💬 What’s a typical day at Schibsted Marketplaces like for you? Lots of conversations! Whether it’s brainstorming, planning or user feedback, there’s always something going on. When our team comes together to solve user problems, that’s when I’m the happiest. 🎉 💬 What do you love most about working here? The people! I am lucky to get to work with such a dedicated, knowledgeable, funny and caring gang. 💬 Tell us a little about yourself outside of work! I’m originally from Serbia but have been living in Norway for 12 years. Outside of work, you’ll often find me hanging out with my two-year-old son. Luckily, being with him is my favourite thing to do! 💬 When you were a kid, what did you want to be? When I was little, I wanted to be either an astronaut or an archaeologist, because both made exciting discoveries and started with the letter “a” (kid logic). 💬 If you could automate one thing in your life, what would it be?     Horizontal or vertical? How did you watch the U.S election? 🤳 VG - Verdens Gang AS's record-breaking vertical video success during the US election night 🎉 VG’s bold push into vertical video hit a high note with viewers, particularly among younger audiences flocking to the site. On 5 November, before US polls even closed, VG saw a new record with 1.14 million streams on their mobile-first video player. And the next day, the record was shattered again—1.69 million streams, with a huge interest in updates, including Donald Trump's victory. "These are incredible numbers for a courageous initiative the entire VG team worked hard to launch," says Development Editor Øyvind Brenne. The vertical video player, specially designed for mobile, allowed users to engage without needing to rotate their screens—ideal for a fresh, multi-frame approach. Over 800,000 of these views came from VG’s ongoing election broadcast, which also gained over 1.2 million views on TikTok. The results were promising: young audiences spent more time on VG’s front page and video content than usual. With the addition of a live chat feature in the election feed, engagement levels soared, especially among younger viewers. “We strongly believe in the importance of engaging in dialogue with our users and bringing that connection into our journalism, even in TV formats," says Product Lead Helle Skjervold. At the AI Forum hosted by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in Madrid, Marcus Husby, Head of AI at VG - Verdens Gang AS, shared how Norway’s largest news brand is embracing AI to enhance every aspect of its journalism 👏 — with solid backing from its parent company, Schibsted Media. As a leading force in Scandinavian media, Schibsted Media supports VG’s innovation efforts, which include the development of nearly 30 AI tools to analyse news cycles and process internal data with custom-built insights. This technology is applied across all departments — from ⚽ sports and 🎥 entertainment to 🔎 investigative journalism — showcasing VG’s commitment to transforming its newsroom with AI. This shift is happening now—not just in theory.
