Cermaq launches sustainability report based on EU’s CSRD regulation, adapted to its financial year. “For us, fish health and welfare has become the core priority, In the report we describe our preventive approach as vaccination, screening and monitoring in each of the operating regions, Norway, Chile and Canada, says Chief Sustainability Officer, Lars Galtung.  Cermaq also presents its actions to limit the global temperature with 35 % from 2019. The emissions from Cermaq’s own operations have been reduced with 10% per ton from 2022. Cermaq will develop an updated climate transition plan towards 2030 in the coming year.  Feed constitutes a major part of the impact of salmon farming, various aspects of feed impacts appear across many chapters as the chapters are aligned to the EU standards. We are happy to see that a two-year extension has been granted to the North East Atlantic blue whiting Fishery Improvement Project (FIP), demonstrating that the market-led approach to improve North Atlantic pelagic fisheries management has impact. Certified Blue Whiting plays an important role in fish feed for salmon. Just launched 📣 Global Salmon Initiative’s annual Sustainability Report! This report, which now includes 11 years of global environmental and social sustainability data, showcases the transformative power of collaboration in driving measurable progress. As members of GSI, we provide consistent reporting on eco-efficiency in feed, sea lice treatment, antibiotic use, and more. While it’s encouraging to see our collective progress, we know there's much more to be done.
